News, Illegal immigrants not U.S. health care burden: study.
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Illegal Latino immigrants do not cause a drag on the U.S. health care system as some critics have contended and in fact get less care than Latinos in the country legally, researchers said on Monday.
Such immigrants tend not to have a regular doctor or other health-care provider yet do not visit emergency rooms -- often a last resort in such cases -- with any more frequency than Latinos born in the United States, according to the report from the University of California's School of Public Health.

So what is your point? Are you condoning the fact that millions of Latino Aliens have entered (and stayed) in this country illegally? Where do you live? I lived and worked on the Arizona/mexico border for three years; I could tell you a few things that you may be surprised to learn, because your post is naive. This country should adopt the same strict immigration standards as mexico has.

A better educated decision (or simply common sense) would involve securing our border in the first place. We should treat illegal immigration just mexico does. Try entering there and making demands; see how far you get, and keep us posted.

I'm against illegal immigration 100 percent without question. What you see is from the news networks writings not me. Here in Tennessee we have thousands of illegals and they all need to be sent back to Mexico.

why does everybody compare american and mexican immigration policy? first of all, no one who is defending immigrants is defending the mexican government. there is a very clear distinction made. second, their immigration policy should have no bearing on our own. pointing fingers does nothing to change the quality of our own policies.

Amen to that. I didn't mean to offend (especially if you're against the invasion).

I wonder if anyone really is going to buy this nonsense? A Chicago group conducts a telephone survey and draws this type of conclusion?
If you want to see if illegal aliens cause a drag on the US health care system you have to ask the hospitals providing the care NOT conduct a nonscientific study like this Chicago group did. In fact most US hospitals are only reimbursed a fraction of the cost they expend in covering illegal aliens. The rest of the costs are passed on in the form of higher health care costs to Americans that do in fact pay for their health care services.
John Hopkins Undergraduate Research Journal seems to also disagree with this Chicago based survey.

After observing the losses that American hospitals are taking, one can see why many are choosing to raise prices of their services to those who are able to pay i.e. legal US residents. Surveys have given a $1.1 billion figure to what American citizens have to pay for the care of illegal immigrants in the nation (Larubia). However, legal residence soon becomes a problem when nativity to American soil comes into question. By this it is meant that a growing trend of immigration before delivering a baby which automatically becomes a citizen through the 14th amendment. Commonly referred to as an “anchor” child, the newborn citizen allows the rest of the illegal family to stay in the US and thereby receive healthcare benefits usually left to those who were legally supposed to receive them (i.e. American taxpayers).

Amen to that. I do go to the doctor for check ups and the kids. There doesn't seem to be a lack of them. Especially on Friday and Saturday night if you visit the ER. My neice is a health care professional.
