Even for California, this is pretty unbelievable.

Funny how some people have a hard time equating "illegal" with "against the law", but apparently, they do:

"But Garcia said his case is about showing other immigrants that hard work and dedication mean something in the U.S." Amazing that he overlooked the part that he was here ILLEGALLY, but hey, small details.

California grants law license to immigrant

California -- the land of nuts and flakes. Maybe this young man can become Governor, and draw up a deed giving Cali back to Mexico, LOL!

Yeah, interesting that he referred to himself as an "immigrant", isn't it? Note also that the title of article also calls him and "immigrant". Don't ya just love our PC world today?

Pretty shameful, the stuff you read in the media.

My other personal favorite is "undocumented worker".

Or worse yet an "undocumented citizen". Didn't one or more of our politicians coin that ridiculous phrase?

Mexican immigrant can practice law, California court rules - latimes.com

Quote:
“The fact that an undocumented immigrant’s presence in this country violates federal statutes is not itself a sufficient or persuasive basis for denying undocumented immigrants, as a class, admission to the State Bar,” Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye wrote for the court.
And they wonder why no one wants Californians moving to their state, because this is what they let happen in their own state and no one wants it to spread.

Apparently breaking the law isn't a good enough reason to be disallowed admission to the bar in CA.

Everyone crowing "Those crazy Californians, hur, hur, hur". Let me remind you that for many years in the not too distant past we had a number of Republican governors (Reagan, Wilson, Deukmejian, Schwarzenegger) and a pretty solid Republican presence in the state legislature. This shift in attitudes, demographics and power started happening in earnest about twenty years ago. California has long been a bellwether for the rest of the country. What you read about here today will be visited on most of the Western US and Texas in about a generation and in the rest of the country in two generations. Change is happening very fast. Don't just sneer at the state and dismiss it, take note.
