Sounds like district execs are all suffering from anal-cranial insertion disorder. We just had the largest economic downturn since the Great Depression and millions of (legal) Americans are still looking for jobs...but screw them, let's bring in "undocumented immigrants." Dipsticks.

Sounds like a horrible program.

Quote:
DPS is working with Teach for America to bring people with an official status of "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals" as determined by the federal government. Part of the requirements for DACA status is that a person must have been brought to the United States under the age of 16 and have a clean criminal record. Even with DACA status, they are still not recognized as legal citizens.

Teach for America is a program which brings people of different backgrounds and experiences into the classroom to enhance learning. They are not licensed teachers but were issued an alternative license from the State of Colorado to teach. These teachers are currently enrolled in classes to attain their traditional teaching license after one year.

But, Denver has a significant population of students who are undocumented, and Boasberg believes this effort will help serve those families.

There's a lot of irony here.

Maybe they should hire active illegal hard drug addicts to teach kids, since a lot of kids use illegal drugs. That's the logic that they are using. Another big fat "F" for the Denver schools.

With all the students graduating with a degree in Education, this is pathetic news. Many have trouble finding a position especially with cutbacks. If they are "undocumented", they need to order their documents and if they can't, they are illegal immigrants and I bet they could teach the kids a thing or two but...............

I can't believe my property taxes are going to fund this. Absolutely ridiculous.

Really it matters that much to you where your teacher was born? If they came here because their parents brought them and learned in the same schools as everyone else, studied in the same classes as everyone else and speak English as good as the next teacher you are still going to get caught up on where they were born?

I don't care. I just think it's funny that they are going to take explicit action to do this.

"We should hire illegal immigrant teachers because some of our students are also illegal immigrants". The students, whom in turn, can also grow up to become teachers to students whom are also illegal immigrants.

You can't have it both ways, by accepting illegal students and not admitting illegal teachers. It wouldn't be fair to our current students who might want to become our future teachers.....

They aren't going to not admit or de-admit illegal students....so....

I could care less where they were born. That's not germane to this conversation. The fact that they're here illegally and that bleeding heart liberals are trying to portray a criminal subset of society as victims of our lax enforcement of immigration law is what's at point. If you or I were to sneak into Mexico illegally we'd get 3 hots and a cot, but people coming here illegally get public school educations, due process, and access to public health care...and if they pump out a kid on American soil they get unwritten carte blanche to flaunt immigration law until the day they die. If you're not wise enough to see how completely f'd up that is...you're prime material for the DPS school board.

Default Denver Public Schools To Be First In The Nation To Hire Mexican Illegal Aliens As Teachers

They’re smoking even more pot up there there than I thought. This is down right outrageous and un-American. I believe that any public school board that willfully hires illegal aliens as teachers needs to be indicted, tried, convicted and sentenced. As a taxpayer, I wouldn't want my money going to a illegal alien's salary. Would you?
