No it is not. You cannot detain, question...etc...someone based solely on their race. The Officer better have a good reason or he is getting fired and the dept is getting sued. Period!
Hispanics are not a race anyways.

For the record: I used to be 'racially profiled' 30 years ago due to being a young Nordic White dude wearing jeans, T shirts and having longish hair.

I may have been pissed about it then; oh well.

All this complaining about racial profiling would have a bit more merit if those complaining on this post take just as much issue when people of non-Hispanic descent are racially profiled.

I disagree. We are at war. We have been invaded. Thousands of Americans are being murdered and raped at the invaders. And billions of dollars are being pilfered and taken out of our nation every single year.

That's a war. One that could have been avoided if our government had only secured our border with the military.

Which makes the racial profiling all the more necessary. Sheriff Joe should be given a medal for what he's doing.

Take it up with the guy who said racial profiling is a legitimate tool of law enforcement.

Like I said, it matters not if you want to characterize something as a 'war', that won't make it so.

And if you think Joe should get a medal for racial profiling, ........(what you call 'necessary' but still it's illegal, so .....hmmmm. ......

Then you are suggesting Joe should get a medal for breaking the law?

Funny, I thought everyone was against illegals.

You were complaining, he thinks it's just fine.

If you want to complain, I think you should take it up with him.

I don't hear anyone else saying we should racially profile all races,

Did you?

I'm just asking for a little honesty, User. Have you really gotten this worked up over racial profiling when other ethnic groups have been the victims? Were you as equally upset about it? Were you motivated to spend just as much time and energy blogging about it? If you don't want to come clean on this board, you should at least pose the question to yourself. That might diminish your animosity toward others who are less disturbed by racial profiling than by the situation it is used to address...Try to see it from someone else's point of view.

Sherriff Joe is a controversial character, and the arguments that swirl around him can often become "IN TENTS".....
