One statement in the NBC article you linked caught my eye:

1) The number of undocumented immigrants is far lower than we've seen referred to in previous discussions on this forum, I'm recalling; and

2) 56% of that 1.6 million number have been in the USA for 14 years or longer.
And what difference does that make? Do you justify embezzlers and shoplifters who have been committing their crimes for 14 years or longer?

And there are far more illegals -- and thousands coming in every day.

There is absolutely no good reason to legalize the illegals. Why should they be made legal? They certainly don't deserve it. Most of them could go home and start over the right way if they really cared.

But you have maintained they've come across in those numbers for years - All of a sudden they are younger and turning themselves in? Where are the Mexicans in this recent influx? The only south-of-the-border nationality that isn't being caught?

As shown in the OP the vast majority of offenders come from Mexico. This is a fact. The majority of legal immigrants allowed in this country also come from Mexico. That is a fact. What this means is that no illegals from Mexico can claim we make it too difficult for Mexican nationals. The numbers don't lie. As a result the logical course of action would be to focus on our southern border and secure it.
The logical course of action is to hold anyone who hires, facilitates or abets illegals accountable. No rational person in the world believes that rewarding illegal behavior is the best approach if you wish that behavior to stop.
Take care of the biggest problem then turn our focus on the others. Not impossible, not unrealistic and certainly not racist.
