I blame both of them.
If you ask the employer they will tell you that they can’t afford to hire legal workers because their competition uses illegals and will under bid them.

The fact that the ones that are responsible for enforcing our immigration laws look the other way is probably more culpable than all of them.

NAFTA was the grand plan that caused the problem that we have now. Those that planed and implemented the NAFTA agreement knew that the result would be that the farmers in Mexico would go out of business because they would not be able to compete with the US farming industry.
Knowing this would result in a flood of illegal immigrants coming to the US they intentionally looked the other way. Although they occasionally used some high profile arrests to show us that they were doing something, they never intended to slow them down.
Unless Americans wake up and send all of these politicians packing we will end up a third world Spanish speaking country.

I don't blame the employer because if the person offers a valid SS # the employer can't know if the person is illegal or not.

Blame the illegal for what? getting a job? Punishing someone for getting a job? wtf?
I have worked for employers in construction that knowingly hired ilegals with false SS numbers, they know it, they can check, but dont. Luckily I am smarter than they are, checked and the people we caught. Dont for one minute excuse either of them, there is no excuse.

Last time I checked, they have no constitutional rights, being that they aren't US citizens and all. I think that the illegal worker is not the problem. The illegal American employer is.

I don't care what language we end up speaking, I care that the US is rapidly becoming as corrupt a government as the countries illegal workers are coming from. The American middle class is being preyed upon by the rich and the government.

Odd, isn't it, that our government, as well funded as it is that it can hold hearings about BASEBALL (that's the WTF issue!) can't have a system in place to check on the veracity of SSN. Odd, that an employer doesn't have to do more due dilligence to check on an employee's work status. Odd that someone wouldn't look for a job in their own country...or overthrow the disgustingly corrupt government many of their countries have. A model for ours??
Really, the people who have jobs in South America work for their measly wage, enough to get them by. You think they have the time or money to overthrow the Government? On the contrary, the Mexican Government is slowly progressing.

Neither of the examples you give is our problem - it is the citizens of those countries

Look, mini mom. I don't care what you or anyone else does as long as the end result is that the illegals are returned to their home countries. There is no job they are doing that cannot be done by either an American or a worker from another part of the world such as SE Asia who is here on a work visa. Someone who would appreciate an opportunity to work in the US and wouldn't give us all this crap.

The one who came to this country illegally is primarily to blame -

Then the employer

The illegal should be deported

The employer should lose their business

Case closed

You just said they should be blamed for coming into this country and applying for a job. Makes no logical sense.

I respectfully disagree with the illegals being chiefly to blame. Yes, they came over the border illegally. However, they understand the laws (at least up until now) are being subverted by our politicians and our corporations. The SOURCE of all this is the plentiful jobs that pay more and turn the other way in regards to legal documentation. Cut off the source (i.e. punish the employers and I mean REALLY punish the employers) and the first thing that will happen is the influx of these people will slow to a trickle, and the ones here will go back home, eventually. Most of them love their home country, as anyone would, and when they find it is not a honeybucket of employment over here they will go back, or at least most of them will.

I'm not giving those who jump the fence a free ride, they are responsible as well. I just believe that the majority of responsibility rests with our corrupt politicians and corporate leadership. They do, after all, WANT these people here. Knock it off at the source; elect politicians that will uphold and enforce the law.
