The penalty for being having entered the USA "illegally" is nothing more than being subject to removal. Key word being "subject" which means depending upon a vast and bewildering array of rules, circumstances, opinion of judge, action by a president and so forth that removal may never happen.
But, that "illegal" status gets them into additional trouble on down the road as with no driver's license (what I attribute to so many hit-and-runs in town) and other things where they claim to have the "right" to and don't being here illegally. When we were in AZ, they said it was very easy to get "documents" as illegal as those bearing them and that the schools in particular didn't ask questions - headcount means $.

Obtaining various federal, state or local government documents or whatever legally or using forgeries carries the same penalties if one is or is not a US citizen. Plenty of Americans all over the this country drive without a valid license. This even from those where their DL has been taken away and or suspended ten, twenty, or more times.

I found this link and I was thinking along these lines on how being illegals eventually catches up with them or should: The Myth of the

There was an accident over the weekend here where a 20 year old was killed trying to escape police after he failed to stop at a stop sign. I'm guessing he was illegal and didn't want to be found to be so - you get a feel pretty quick for "situations". I'm thinking that a citizen without a driver's license would not have been so quick to risk their life.

Doesn't matter because most use the term illegal still;plain and simple. Anesty is by any other word such a path to citizenship the same thing. Spin and double talk as always.

Entering this country illegally still makes them illegal aliens.

Imagine if a burglar broke into your home, racked up medical bills on your credit card, and demanded that you paid to send their children to your schools.
Yeah, that's not a crime... right?
