Depends what you mean be "lots". It's subjective. Are there undocumented people in the area? Of course, there are in every Texas metro area. But why does it matter to you?

Why? What's "lots"?

Nobody will be able to get you a definitive answer.

I'd say quite a few but in the same ball park as other Texas metros.

One thing we don't have in this area are colonias, which quite often have a high percentage of undocumented.

I'm sure they are all over Texas. Of course, Austin is very expensive so I imagine they live in surrounding areas. I think there are a lot in Buda/Kyle.

I recall some being reported a number of years ago.
Found the article..dated 2011. Don't know if these 2 subdivisions got cleaned up though.
Rancho Vista and Redwood, both in Hays county.

There are no where near the amount as what I have seen in CA. On any hike or mountain bike ride through the hills or city parks in CA, we would normally come across at least one "cardboard village" where they would setup camp to sleep. In the day, they would go out and work in the strawberry or avocado fields. I haven't seen anything like that here. I have also never seen groups of 20 or 30 of them out in front of Home Depot every morning here like you would see in CA (at least not at the Home Depots that I frequent). So from my perspective, no there aren't a lot of illegal immigrants around in the Austin area at least in plain view compared to Southern CA.

Yup, there are. There's more in DFW and San Antonio. I don't know about Houston, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had a lot too.
