I was reading an article and there is a group in Emporia, KS that wants to bring the Amtrak back and they talked about 4 stops in KS and they all tied together a network of cities that depend on illegal labor to keep wages and benefits in check. I know what the purpose would be since illegals cannot drive legally, getting them from one area to the other and makes me think they have become too good to take the bus. I don't want to pay more taxes to transport the illegals unless it is back where they came from. The article states that since the station closed in 1999 it has hit the town hard. Ah, no. Several businesses closed here just like in many other cities but not because Amtrak wasn't running through town. And, when is the last time any of us took the train to go shopping in a town with 25,000 or less in population. Much of the wages in these cities go to Mexico and are not turned back into our economy. Hopefully the people, legal taxpaying citizens, realize what a sham this would be.

If you look at the comments, it doesn't look like people will buy what they are trying to sell them.

Think meat-processing and check the racial percentages in the cities. In one of the towns, probably 15 years ago, in the school system, "whites" were a minority.

KS is particularly bad because they step up to say they don't want illegals to become legal but don't mind taking advantage of them. KS needs to either get tough on illegal immigration like AZ and AL or support making them citizens not facilitate their lives here with my tax dollars and we really pay taxes here too with little to nothing to show for it.
