Thank you for that laugh. Needed it but it is true of course and not really funny at all. The illegals and those that love them are not good for this country at all.

Nothing is ever final, especially in a democracy. It should be pitched as what it is; the most effective way to cut illegal immigration down to reasonable levels.

We might not like it but we all know something needs to be done and sending 6 million people home is not pratical or humane thing to do. I think a bill that includes:

1. All applicants for amnesty must have NO criminal or DUI convictions
2. All applicants for amnesty must take and pass a basic English test
3. All applicants for amnesty must have a full time job or be enrolled in school
3.5: All applicants must demostrate the ability to keep their household above federal poverty guidelines and reside in the US without government support. (Same as current green card applicants)
Quote:
4. All applicants for amnesty must "come clean" and pay any back taxes (no fines though)
I disagree.
4. Back taxes must be paid. Assist in identifying past employers. Past employers would then be responsible for their share of the applicable back taxes. Finally, a significant fine should be levied for breaking the law and entering "without inspection." The fine could be paid off over many years without accruing interest for those in tough financial straights, but some sort of punitive measure should be included.

Why do you think there should not be a fine?

Quote:
5. Once approved such applicants will only be eligible for Probationary Residency which will last for a period of 3 years. If the applicant stays out of trouble with the law, learns at least basic English, pays any taxes owed and keeps a job, after 3 years the applicant will be adjusted to Permanent Residence status. Only after 5 more years may the applicant apply for US Citizenship but we will waive that if the applicant serves in the US Armed Forces.
6. Anybody caught hiring, transporting or harbouring a person illegally in the United States from this day forward will face the following:
1st offense $10,000 fine
2nd offense $100,000 fine
3rd offense will be a felony and 2 years in Federal Prison and confiscation of business, home or vehicles used in the employment of illegal immigrants.
7. No state, city or political enity shall issue any official state ID, drivers license or other documentation to any person not legally in the country.
8. The USA Mexico border shall be sealed with a fence and patrolled by armed border patrol agents 24/7. We shall allocate whatever it cost to do so.
9. Any state or local official attempting to defeat the intent of this bill shall be deemed guilty of high crimes and removed from office.
10. Any illegal immigrant expelled from the United States who re-enters illegally shall be guilty of a FELONY and shall serve a prison term of not less than 3 years prior to being deported again.
I agree with most of your suggestions. I haven't heard any reasonable arguments against them, just a lot of jingoisms.

LOL! You said it. I've always wondered how do they know the laws are "broken"? They've never tried to enforce them!!! It's the biggest line of bull yet from the pro amnesty group.

Amnesty didn't work the first time so why do some people think it will work again. All you pro amnesty slave traders should understand that in 1986 there where real and I mean concrete promises that the border would be sealed and employers would be held accountable, well unless your blind and an idiot you know that didn't happen. NO AMNESTY!!!!!! Attrition through enforcement, end birthright citizenship, Track visa overstays and that's it. Those people who came illegally and have kids need to go back to their home countries as well, the only thing I'll give is a grandfather clause to let their anchor baby children born before the new laws keep their citizenship and when they grow up they can come back here if they choose. This is what America wants so all you amnesty cheerleaders can keep on dreaming.

Oh, you mean like Reagan's amnesty bill of 1986, the LAST and FINAL amnesty....

Right.

No amnesty now or EVER! Criminal behavior should not be rewarded for anyone. A legal citizen or guest to our country and especially someone here illegally!!!

That would not happen. All those already here and all those who would be arriving to get in on it as soon as it's announced -- they all have a number of people they will want to have join them here.

For example, the Mexicans sending remittances back to family -- once handed their amnesty, you know they will want to bring in extended family members and friends. That would be one of their motives for getting citizenship.

That's what happened with the 80's amnesty. People came pouring over the border and ever since have been bringing in siblings, elderly parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and so on.

And don't forget -- many Mexicans have come here for a time, worked a while and went back home -- they will certainly feel as entitled to get in on the amnesty as those who just arrived yesterday and are here right now.

The only amnesty I can see is just to announce that those here illegally and have no criminal record here and wish to become citizens of this country are welcome to return home and start out all over and do things the right way this time.

No moving to the front of the line for having broken the laws. There are many people who are doing just that -- applying for legal entry and waiting patiently. What a slap on the face for them to have the lawbreakers moved ahead of them -- even shutting out their chances for good.

Those who don't choose to return and do things right -- should be told that there will be no amnesty and if caught here, especially with fraudulent and stolen identifications, they will be prosecuted and the felony crime on their record will make it impossible to ever be given citizenship.

Leave them illegal -- that's the choice they themselves made when they came or overstayed their visas. And as they are discovered, prosecute and remove them.
