I have no doubt that this is what will happen.

A major part of the problem is locating the parents or relatives. Some of them live in the states while others are still in central/south America. The longer we wait on solving this problem the worse it will be. These kids need to be deported as soon as possible so that the people sending them will stop doing so. We can't afford to drag our feet on this issue.

These kids aren't going to be deported.

They're "refugees" now.
They're "unaccompanied minors" now.
They're "God's children" now.

So the USG will have to take care of them.

Yay for us taxpayers. Kind of annoyed that WE weren't consulted, since we'll be the ones paying for it.

We're all God's children so I fail to understand why that is relevant.

The kind of parents that would do this to their kids aren't the kind of parents any kid should have.

The whole point in this is to exploit those kids -- get them smuggled in, they get in on Obama's DACA and then the parents are allowed to either stay or come and join them. Not just the parents, all other siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins will soon be arriving -- "family reunification" has been promised them.

They are kids. And this is a nightmare...and this is coming from a poster that many on this board probably consider "pro-illegal immigration" from some past posts. The southern border has been completely overwhelmed by these children.

That's what I want to think, as well. But these are ignorant central American village people who have "heard" that they can send their kids to the USA and all will be Ok for their kids.

Prior to WW II, European parents sent their children unaccompanied on trains to countries that they deemed safer.

European parents were sending their kids because they were being being persecuted/murdered by their governments. It was well documented in the 1930s that Jews were being severely mistreated by the german nazi gov't. These kids are NOT being persecuted by their government. Just because they live in a corrupt, crappy country that they don't like doesn't give them the right to just cross over into another one.

I'm not saying it gives them the right. Not at all. I'm saying their parents are not monsters, and they might think they are doing the right thing. The whole situation gives me an ulcer. And it wasn't just the Jewish parents who sent their kids to what they thought were safe (turned out not to be so much) countries.

I'm not an apologist for this, it's truly out of control and I'm as upset about it as anyone else.
