Are these kids going to be dumped into our public school system? Most, if not all, cannot speak English. Many will be entered into our foster care system, which already have kids waiting for placement. And Jenkins has crowed that no Dallas county taxes will be used for this, instead the federal taxes will. Who does he think pays those taxes??

They're still kids, probably lonely and scared without their parents. I wish the best for them

Yup , and the best thing for these kids is to be flown back to Guatemala or wherever their journey started so they can be reunited with their parents. Throwing them into shelters, the foster system, etc in a scary foreign land isn't a solution.

Are you going to volunteer to foster several of them?

Most of them aren't kids. Never heard of kids wearing men's underwear, have you? It's their parents to blame for this. How did they arrive here without their parents in the first place?

In this case, they are ALL kids. Some as young as 5 or 6. Their parents are paying smugglers (usually connected to drug lords) to traffic the kids from Central America through Mexico and then dump them on US soil. The parents are responsible, even if they believe they are sending their kids to the US for a better life. Untold numbers of children aren't even making it to the US because they're being trafficked and sold into slavery along the journey.

The whole thing is awful. But the kids need to be deported.

No they aren't. There was a couple of links posted in here denoting that 75% or more of them are teenagers and especially in their late teens. Those aren't kids. If not then why the need for adult underwear? Otherwise I agree with the rest of your post.

They need to be deported. If we let them stay, more parents will subject their children to this insanely dangerous journey. We need to make it abundantly clear that these children DO NOT GET A FREE PASS because of their age.

City officials first stated that the kids would be housed in Dallas for up to 120 days. Now they are saying it will be for 6 months, with an opportunity to extend that to even more time. These kids aren't going anywhere, and I have no doubt more are on their way.
