Let's call a spade a spade. This politically-correct term "undocumented migrants" is ridiculous.

They are here illegally--and they are aliens. So call them what they are, illegal aliens.

I don't care from whence they came--Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, et al....they have no right to be here, and we should not have to foot the bill for this!

Period.

They are being sent everywhere to try to relieve the crush along the Texas (especially the RGV)-Mexico border.

FWIW, it is not a criminal violation to enter the country without a visa, it is a civil matter which is why the term "illegal" is a bit over the top. OP can rest easy that refugees from gang violence and collapse of civil society are not being sent to Austin. No "huddled masses yearning to breathe free here"!

That is not correct. US Code, Title 8, Section 1325:

Quote:
(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who
(1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or
(2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or
(3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.
Just because we typically don't imprison people on the first offense doesn't mean it is a civil offense.

I can't rep you anymore at this time, scm and Cathy, but you're spot on, IMO. When all of our own are taken care of, then we can worry about taking in the citizens of these failed third world countries...

Yes, they're kids, but they are still illegal. How are we going to possibly care for so many parentless children? Our adoption system here is already so bad. We have to give them everything because they can't fend for themselves. This won't turn out good.

What makes me wonder is why is this is happening all of a sudden. Why did all these parents pick the same time to send their children to the US?
