US activists hopeful about delayed deportation

This woman wants to stay long enough so that she can afford to buy a home in El Salvador. She's already been here over 10 years. It seems to me that she would have earned enough already. The article says that even if she is deported that the two children get to stay with the partner- a Mexican national. Two illegals produced two legal kids in this country.

Why is she being deported. I thought they only deported illegals if they commit a major crime.
