I talked to someone the other day that called some company that said "dial 2 for English".... dial 1 was for Spanish of course.

My buddy was doing a job in San Jose a couple weeks ago, and his Dad fell off a ladder, getting severely injured. My friend, in a panic seeing his Father unconsious and bleeding, calls 911. After being put on HOLD, he has to PRESS 1 FOR ENGLISH!!! WTF!!!!!

Im not offended as Im not a real Okie,
hell I was born in the north , and raised in Oklahoma , so having never lived in California, I cant claim the title of "Okie"

Actually; NorCal well above San Fran has a lot of 'good ol' boys' in addition to left over 1960's Hippies.

Thank you for asking. In fact, I take offense to this pandering practice. I press the button for Spanish (even though I do not speak Spanish, nor do I have ANY intention of learning it), then I tell the operator/customer service attendant, etc., that I want to speak with someone in ENGLISH. They get huffy about that. Good.

In conclusion, I always give the person on the other end an EARFUL about this Spanish habla, blah, blah, blah malarkey.
