Who knew? I for one did. Especially when I read stories like the one a few weeks ago, in which the residents in a tiny Rio Grande town in Texas were told by the "Feds" that the ONLY POSSIBLE ROUTE for the fence in their area was several hundred yards uphill from the river, and would HAVE to run right through several houses. Fences can't "turn", we all know---they can't run AROUND things--they have to run right THROUGH things, like freeways...

When I read this, I knew these guys don't want to build a fence; have no intention of EVER building a fence, and will do anything in their power NOT to build a fence, no matter how silly it makes them look. It's like asking a recalcitrant 5-year old to pick up his toys. He CAN'T do it, for a million reasons. The toys are too heavy--his arm is sore---his toybox lid is stuck--he has to go potty. The fact is, he dosn't WANT to pick up his toys. And the Feds don't "want" to build a fence.

This entire fiasco is downright ridiculous, Faith.

APPROVING the fence in order to protect the citizens of this country and then NOT approving the funds . . .

In any case, thanks for the petition . . . SIGNED.

They probably ran out of nails or something. As soon as Congress approves the $17.84 needed to buy another box, they will get going again.

Not to mention contractors hired to build fence were busted for hiring illegal labor to work on the fence.

Ain't 'privatization' grand?

No accountability ever need be a worry, ....all you have to do is create another layer of 'sub-contractors', then when you're busted for anything illegal, you can blame the 'subs' and not even lose your place in line for another government contract.

Privatization works to our benefit so well, let's support privatizing more government.

They don't have the money because of the 1.4 BILLION $$$$ they are giving to Mexico. Oh, and those new helicopters they are giving them, and training them to use new surveillance equipment, has to cost a pretty penny too!

According to your cited transcript it's Bush who insisted on giving the 1.4 billion to Mexico.

Congress approved funding for an additional 700 miles of fence.
