“They have very, very limited amounts of education. In some cases, they cannot count to 10. They can’t turn on a computer. They’ve never even seen a computer. Also, they, in most cases, cannot speak English or Spanish. There is no way these children can be in biology, U.S. history or any other high school course at our current schools.”

You have high school age kids who have little to no schooling at all and many who don't even speak Spanish! They can't count to 10 -

Yet they must be placed in a school district by law (one apparently that must be followed). How are public schools equipped to deal with this? How can it not effect the actual American kids in the school?

...and how are these "best and brightest" supposed to contribute to our society?

Once they hit 15 they have to go to HS. (at least in Texas)

I don't know what they will do.
You can't have 15 year olds sitting in kindergarten learning their numbers, can you ?

They won't be contributing to society in any meaningful or positive way. Instead, they will be a drain because they will consume more than one welfare program.

This madness needs to stop!

According to the article, they will remain in the Special Ed class until they turn 22.

"The students, at an age when their American peers are typically preparing for college or the job market, are entering school for the first time — and may remain there until the age of 22, the legal maximum age"

Also..“Most of these students are from very, very rural places,” she said. “They are farmers and laborers, by tradition.”

Does this mean a war will soon break out between these farmers and laborers and the current migrant agricultural workers and burger flippers ?

This is just nuts!

The US does NOT need more peasants, we have plenty enough American ones to go around. Sheesh!

Don't worry they won't be peasants. Peasants work. They will be welfare freeloaders with illegitimate kids.

I read that the Spanish that many speak has an ancient dialect and translators are having trouble communicating with them. If you live in the mountains, don't have running water, no toilets, run a generator for electricity, it's no wonder they are illiterate and unskilled.

And Obama is looking to give 5 million illegals a pass and allow them to get work permits. Totally useless people to society other than to work in the fields. Does the US have enough farms for these "workers"?? I wouldn't be surprised if Obama mandates that farmers have to employ them.

With the decades long drought going on now, there are fewer farms in the country, especially in California. There must be fewer jobs available now than even last year. What are these people going to do for work if they can't get a job that does not require experience or education ? Every low level job they take will be one less job for somebody trying to work their way through college, or a Summer job for a legal High Schooler.

These illegals (until Obama changes that) will be on public assistance for decades to come !

Did you brain hurt after you typed that elegant response?

#1 - The vast majority of these people WORK. And WORK HARD.
#2 - Latinos in particular are VERY family ORIENTED, and believe in keeping the family together and helping every member in their family. The main reason they come here in the first place is FAMILY!
#3- Latinos are very religious and have conservative views.

So stop with your ugly stereotypes and perhaps enlighten us with some excellent points to argue against. Not random nastiness.

The vast majority of illegals are criminals. You forgot that part. The vast majority of illegals are a burden upon society. You forgot that part also.
As for the rest. Maybe some, but not all.
