Regarding Ralph Reed and Russell Moore's "Immigration Reform Is a Moral Imperative" (March 31): Every other country in the world has immigration laws that are enforced. Unfortunately for the citizens of this country, our federal government doesn't enforce our laws. Deportation numbers are a joke. What about the moral imperative to protect the jobs and lives of the citizens of this country? Part of the reason for the federal government is to protect its citizens and the sovereignty of this country. I know what Jesus would do. He would want people to be law abiding.
Yes, I get disgusted with the defenders of illegal aliens taking the moral high ground on this issue when all their compassion is for these lawbreakers but none for the rightful citizens of this country who have been negatively impacted by their presence here.
Virtually all other countries have some kind of borders and immigration laws. The open borders proponents actually seem to believe that the USA can take in all the over 2 billion impoverished people of the world and the US taxpayers can give them all a great life here.
To be fair it did not just become a problem when Obama took office. Illegals have been a very rapidly growing problem for decades.
Neither side can take the moral high ground on this. Both side are being guided by extremist that are stupid.
It's true that this is an issue that has been growing for some time, however historically it is a new issue. Until the mid to late 1900, there was no such thing as illegal immigrates. You arrived, said you wanted to be a US citizen, got a job and started working. Then we decided that the US government needed to control immigration, and hurdles started being put in place to make it harder to become a citizen. As with all government offices the bureaucracy kept increasing. Managers inflated payrolls to give them more power and larger paycheck. Paperwork was added to justify the additional employees. Over time it became harder and harder to become a US citizen. Today it requires thousands of dollars, years of waiting, a long list of interviews, and extreme luck to become a citizen.
Now, the bureaucracy didn't do anything to curb the demand for labor or the desire of people to come to the US. All it did was increase government expenditures, created a class of workers that didn't pay taxes and created an underground market with below min wage jobs that don't have the upward potentials.
It's time we revised both the process for becoming a citizen and how the law are enforced. It's a really stupid idea to think that millions of people can be forced to leave a county they call home. Look around the world were it was tried, did it ever work without war? NO. So stating that is the only solution shows that you are one of the extreme idiots.
Likewise those that believe that closing law enforcement eyes to illegal immigrates are also stupid. Granting citizen privileges to non-citizen that don't pay taxes is really stupid. It is a dishonest method of buying the votes of citizen that have illegal immigrate family members.
The solution is simple for those that aren't extremist. Make it easier for immigrates to become US citizens and pay taxes. Don't provide illegal immigrates with the same benefits as citizens. It will also make job laws easier to enforce. Why stay at a below min wage job, when you can easily become a US citizen and get a better paying position.

Sneaking across the boarder to feed your family and for a better life is not our problem. No one disputes people come to t his country for a better life. We all understand that. It is HOW they get here that riles us up and what the politicians are willing to do to screw the rest of us over to get the votes. We HAVE a process in place for immigration. ENFORCE it.
You don't reward bad behavior in your kids, WHY the hell should we do it for ILLEGAL ALIENS.
We could to cut any incentive that brings them here. They should be immediately deported, they should NEVER be eligible for Citizenship! because they don't deserve it.
