The problem with the illegal kids entering the country is a law that requires that kids from countries that don't touch the US be given special treatment. It has caused the backlog of kids in the US which has aggravated the impression in Central America that those kids are staying here.

Everyone in Washington was trying to get the needed laws changed. While they all disagreed on the details, Republicans and Democrats in Congress and POTUS were all trying to get something passed to deal with the problem.

The geniuses elected by the tea baggers in this country felt that it was better to go on vacation for 5 weeks than do anything. You now have 5 weeks of this problem getting worse before anyone can even try to start making a change.

Great job tea baggers. You wasted $24B with the sequestration and now the do nothing idiots you got into office are now responsible for the mess with the illegal kids.

Sorry to disappoint you.....this started years ago....and Obama meddling in the politics of Honduras just might have been the final ingredient in a perfect storm.

You seem to have some obsession with the Tea Party. You also seem to think that anyone who is against illegal immigration is a Tea partier.

Neither party is looking out for Americans---and that's a shame.

At one time, the democrats could be counted on to truly look out for the poor, working and middle classes. Those democrats of yore would have been horrified to discover that their constituents were either seeing their wages depressed or were being displaced in the work force due to illegal immigration. And those democrats of yore would have done something about it---and I don't mean amnesty. Today's democrats put illegal aliens ahead of the millions of suffering underemployed and unemployed American citizens. Luis Gutierrez is the poster boy for this nonsense. He even tells his constituents that he is in congress to serve illegals.

As I said, neither party is looking out for Americans. The sad part is that at one time I would have expected much, much better from democrats.

Agreed and HOW!

Too: Cesar Chavez, Walter Mondale AND Ralph Abernathy; 3 old school "liberal Dems" had it in for ILLEGAL aliens like as in all wanted their kind GONE from the US. You know what I mean but, I posted this again for other posters to see. In 2014 all 3 men would be called racist white supremacist "tea baggers" even tho Mr Chavez was a Mestizo Hispanic AND Mr Abernathy was a Black dude.

Agreed.

And for the 9,000th time, "tea bagger" is not a political term. It's a sexual term. Apparently Liberals think it's cute or they've scored some points using it as a political term. Or are they just that stupid?

Yes, tea baggers in general are that stupid. I don't know nor do I care what liberals think about it.

Actually in this case both parties were moving forward to get things done. Unfortunately, late in the game, the wackjob part of the Republican party decided that they'd rather keep this problem going forward and go on vacation for 5 weeks instead of doing their job.

I'm sure plenty of you sympathize with them and I guess it's hard to own up to the fact that they're not culpable.

The OP appears to be confused.

The Senate failed to pass any Legislation that deals with the Border Crisis, and then they left for their August vacation.

The House passed a law on the Border Crisis and another on immigration - and are standing ready if the Senate is called back ...... which they won't be.

House approves border package - The Hill 8/1/14

Republicans during Friday’s debate repeatedly noted that they were in town legislating while the Democratic-run Senate had already left for the recess. The Senate failed to advance a larger $2.7 billion border bill on Thursday.

Republicans urged the Senate to come back and negotiate a compromise.

"The House is here working," said House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.). "I encourage the Senate to come back and do their job."

It's fine to berate CongressCritters in the House & Senate for not doing the work they are paid to do. It's NOT fine for Harry Reid and Leftists to berate the House of Representatives for going on their August break instead of passing a Bill - when Reid's Senate didn't pass a Bill and the House actually did pass one.

In the real world - we call that a LIE.
