I can't imagine the horror of living in close proximity ever again either. As a matter of fact, I plan on leaving Illinois all together in a couple of years.
One of the higher ups in the fight to stop illegal immigration once remarked that Chicago was the next LA. They may be right. It was no surprise to me that Chicago had the largest turnout of any city for the May 2006 amnesty march. There is at least one bus line that runs direct from El Paso to Chicago bringing us one or more busloads of new illegals each day. Daley and Chicago politicians see the illegals as potential new democratic voters and will never do anything to try to get the problem under control. Politicians like Rep. Luis Gutierrez are as rabidly reconquista as any elected official CA can produce.
Meanwhile our taxes go up and up and the taxpayer gets less and less for their money. You would not believe what our streets are like. Last year the potholes were so bad that there were streets that were almost impassable. You had to drive 5 MPH or your car would just disintegrate from the bouncing and shaking. It is only Dec. and I am already mapping out what roads to avoid, it looks like this year will be even worse.
I think even more people would be leaving but they cannot sell their houses. We plan to relocate once my husband retires, if we can hang on that long.

Well thank you for educating me. I had no idea that there was a bus route shipping them in weekly. I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. I sold my home in Cook County more than 8 years ago and I am so grateful that I did. It really is a damned shame what you all are forced to put up with. Luis(e) Guiterrez, and the anchor babies in city council realized long ago that without the dead and illegal alien vote they would have been run out on a rail long ago. The same applies to Daley. He is such a desperate little coward/puppet of the la raza crowd. With all of the foreclosures and rising crime rates taking place in the south burbs and the gang activity forcing white flight from the city, it will be interesting to see what they do when they have nothing left but gang bangers, anchor babies and illegal aliens as their primary population. They have yet to figure out that no taxpayers equals economic doom.
