When my mother's family came here (1630's) there was absolutely no expectation that anyone would take care of you and the odds were good you'd die during the first winter or of malaria during summer anyway, so no laws were needed. New immigrants were needed to replace all the dead ones.

When my father's family came here (late 1800's) they had to have a sponsor that guaranteed they wouldn't be a burden to anyone, had to be certified to be free of disease and ended up with the crappy dangerous jobs that no one else wanted.

Now it's all illegal immigrant "rights" and immigrant relief programs and get everybody on welfare and food stamps as fast as possible--can't have them taking just "any" job. And people wonder why there's so much animosity against the illegals.

On the radio today was a lengthy discussion about our drought and the debate that there just isn't enough water for our population--and no workable solutions in sight. And right after that, a sound byte from the governor talking about how all the illegals are welcome to come here.

50,000 new "students" that the Fed will be paying for. Let the money flow....

Recently arrived unaccompanied children are later released from federal custody to an appropriate sponsor usually a parent, relative, or family friend who can safely and appropriately care for them while their immigration cases proceed. While residing with a sponsor, these children have a right under federal law to enroll in public elementary and secondary schools in their local communities and to benefit from educational services, as do all children in the U.S.

they should be sent back the country from where they were born. get them out of the USA. after all, if a democrat administration can send back a child to a childs father in a communist country, then I don't see a problem with a democrat administrations sending back hundreds of illegal criminals back to their home country.

The disconnect is horrifying, isn't it? I'm convinced that the vast majority of our elected officials are complete morons. They don't even realize that when the day comes that we don't have enough potable water (if we continue on the destructive path that we're on.) even their kids and grandkids will be hurt by that.

I wonder if the Sponsors get money from the government like the schools do or like foster parents, or do they have to pay for everything out of their own pockets ?

While I am not an expert on the subject, I would think the sponsors will be provided with food stamps to feed them, Medicaid to heal them, cash to clothe them.....all from local and national tax resources. If the children are old enough, they will also be provided with scholarship opportunities to attend college.
While all of these things are good humanitarian actions to take, I do not personally want to be footing the bill, because I know our government truly can not afford it. Maybe if we would stay out of Iraq long enough to actually benefit from it this admin could pay for their charity themselves.
