The hospital spent $70.7 million delivering babies born there in 2004, with taxpayers covering about 40% of the costs ($31.3 million) directly, and federal and state funds (primarily Medicaid) making up the remainder. Because of large payments from the Medicaid system, Parkland still ended 2004 with a $7.9 million surplus in obstetrics."

mmmm That would be 45 million in Federal Dollars

Argue with the above, not with me.
Medicaid is tax dollars too. So you basically just said that the taxpayers paid 100% of illegals medical bills in labor and delivery to the tune of $70.7 mil for just 1 hospital. Maybe we would be better off if the hospital did close. LOL

You live in a socialist nation, as well state the freeways should close as they are 100 % supported by taxes. However, the argument was that the feds would not pick up the tab for illegals. That poster was shown to be wrong.

No, federal funds do not cover the costs of illegal alien deliveries at Parkland. This nonsense cost the taxpayers of Dallas County over $30,000,000. How do Dallas county taxes qualify as federal funds? I am impressed that they actually managed to make some money with a largely nonpaying clientele. $7 million is not a vast sum in an operating budget of $800 million but it is better than nothing. Hopefully, they will share their secret with other hospitals that are in the red. Be back later.

The hospital spent almost $71 million to deliver the babies born there in 2004, with Dallas County taxpayers covering about 40 percent of the cost and federal and state funds making up the difference and then some. The maternity program ended the year with a surplus of almost $8 million.

God is irrelevant. What makes America is the Constitution and the culture, including our sense of law and justice, which was taken from England, not Spain. It's quite obvious that differences exist between those countries that evolved under the English system (the US, Canada, Australia) and those that evolved under the Spanish system. One system has resulted in prosperous, law abiding nations, the other - not so much.

Wow! Yeah, you're still prosperous. Of course, you use that as a premise, so concluding your premise is a bit meaningless.

The story that hospitals on the border are going under because of illegals is extremely unproven. The costs for the poor, legal or not are covered under federal programs and should not be carried by the hospital.

Just an FYI. Even if the "Feds" are picking up the tabs, where do you think they get their money? From us, of course..

The point which seems to be missed is the statement made by Andreabeth that federal money was not used to pay indigent illegal medical bills, as I clearly showed, it tis. Not sure where the idea that I did not show that has come from.
