This is not an sparsely settled, wide open country of the late 1800s and eventually we need to put out the "no vacancy" sign for the sake of our standard of living/quality of life.

"Why More Immigration is Bad for America"
In addition, we also do not need anyone to come to this country if they aren't willing to accept US law and culture. This should be expected when immigrating to the US. Learn to not segregate yourself from the rest of the country and you will be ahead.

Besides, there is nothing wrong with population decline---despite your fear of it happening. The world will be a better place with a smaller population.
It's mind boggling isn't it that with the shortages of jobs and resources we have along with crowded classrooms and healthcare facilities that one would think that breeding at replacement levels is a good thing or that a lot of immigration is a good thing. I also remember the 60's when jobs were plentiful and so were our resources. We had only 200 million people back then. So how can a declining population be a bad thing when the above was better with less population? The floodgates were opened back in 1965 and later illegal immigration became a huge problem in regards to population growth. I think those who hold the point of view that we need more immigrants because Americans have slowed their birthrates have an agenda and that is to dilute the native population via immigration both legal and illegal with foreigners of whom they probably have ethnic ties to.

OldGlory---If I could rep you, I would!

I've got that guy on "ignore" now as there is no reasoning with him.

Those of us who have kids and grandkids know that we want better than an overpopulated country without enough potable water for their future. It's a shame that others don't feel that way

I already posted the math for you. We are reproducing at declining rates. A 1.5 birth rate means 4 parents make 3 children. Is that not clear? Our birth rate is 1.89. It needs to be 2.07.

America is not running out of water.

Our infrastructure is crumbling because GOP idiots refuse to spend money on it. They'd rather issue tax breaks.

Your agenda is quite clear and it is lacking evidence and common sense.

Actually the U.S. does. Politicans get it and you don't. Rampant immigration exists because our birth rates have been declining for about twenty years. As much as you think we don't need more people, the math disagrees with you. Population decline is economic decline. If we are printing billions of dollars per month, why do you think inflation is still so low? Population decline is economic decline. Demand is based on demographics. We have declining demographics.
Word was the BIG push to cut down baby making when I was a kid in the 1970's was because of the "population explosion". Now people are mad over dropping population in 2014. People reap what they sow.

People need to make up their minds. Sheesh!

Our infrastructure is crumbling because we don't have the money to fix it. We are deep in debt---so where is the money supposed to come from? Do we keep borrowing from China? Then what? Leave it to future generations to deal with it and suffer the consequences?

I still wonder how liberals went from wanting zero population growth to now wanting to overpopulate the country with functionally illiterate illegal aliens. Yet, liberals worry about global warming, leaving large carbon footprints and green living. All this shows what hypocrites they are. They can't really be worried about those things when they keep wanting more illegals into this country.

Some people refuse to do research. This country, indeed, is running out of potable water:

World Water Day: A forceful reminder that the U.S. is running out of fresh water

From the article:

The indisputable fact is that water scarcity is rapidly becoming a significant factor in the way of life in the U.S. Without sufficient foresight and resources for sustainable management of fresh water resources, the problem will become critical in just a decade or two. The range of effects may include (but are not limited to): long-term restrictions on home and community water usage; significant declines in agricultural output as well as meat and dairy produce that require huge amounts of water for irrigation and sustenance of livestock; shortages of just about every product made using water-dependent manufacturing processes (e.g. steel, plastics, pharmaceuticals); and disruptions or complete shutdown of several critical sources of hydroelectric power.

---------------------------
This article should give the amnesty and open borders crowd pause. We simply can not keep increasing our population and expect all to have a good quality of life.

IMHO the "liberal" of 50 years ago ain't today's liberal. Back then liberals cared about the little people and wanted ALL "races" to do well. The ones today scare me and I'm being nice.

I agree 100%! It is scary to think of what today's liberals have become

No, it means you need to read a little slower.

I should have used a different adjective because this was obviously unclear to you.

"Intelligent people understand that if families can only afford one child, the population will decline. One child does not replace two parents. "

I was referring to the concepts I'm trying to explain to you, not people's personal choice.

The United States is not overpopulated, nor does it have a water shortage. Water shortages in the United States are regional based on where people live. Of course we have water shortages in the Southwest

Hahahaha!!!!!

That stuff is all created problems. Our classrooms are crowded because we cut funding to school systems to pay for millionaire tax breaks. Our low-income health care facilities are crowded because we don't guarentee access to preventative care. Our job shortages are because we outsource and automate jobs that used to exist here. Can you spell sheeple?

Our birth rate is 1.89. Replacement rate is 2.07. End of story.
