Sorry. A child born of immigrant parents should be an automatic US citizen IF the immigration is legal. That means the parents had to pass INS approval before being admitted into the country. That is not the same as swimming the Rio Grande or crawling under a fence into Arizona.

This is not a game of "Kick The Can," where you're home-free once you spawn. You broke the law by being here illegally, which means you should not be rewarded just because you managed to give birth here.

Can you explain it?
Because he thinks more highly of illegal criminals than he does the citizens that made this country what it is.

You mean the same 9th Circuit that's happens to be the most overturned court in the country?

Yeah, that's cool.

If the Feds won't do anything, it's up to the states. Arizona isn't the only state taking a stand against illegals, and much more of this is going to follow, regardless of who is president or which party controls congress. Personally, I couldn't be happier.

Oh spare me, please. Your whiny hand-wringing about the "humanity" of babies has no effect on me.

And while you're at it, why don't you try ADDRESSING my question? Why do you get so much pleasure in assuming that laws designed to address abuse of the social welfare system of this nation will be overturned? What's in it for you?

Economic self-interest like some "great" people here? Personal self interest like some of our "PRO" illegal immigration posters?

The State of Arizona does not have to issue Birth Certificates. If the Feds want to, let them

Also, the Anchor Baby issue will be going back to the courts - the original intent was not as it is applied now

Of course and those of us that know and understand the Constitution know this for a fact but the many people in this country who misinterpret it are many. They don't understand that the 14th was written for the children of former slaves and njot for any old Jose who wanted to break any and every law to have their baby in our country and then reep the benefits that they do not deserve.

As a rule, Americans do not like cheaters, swindlers and grifters. When people like Leona Helmsley, Bernard Ebbers and the Enron execs sidestep the rules in order to reward themselves with money and goodies, people do not look at them and say, "Isn't it great that Bernie Ebbers made out like a bandit?".
The more typical response is, "Throw them in jail!". We are a nation of laws and we expect people to play by the rules.

An anchor baby is a dirty trick, a real dirty trick. These women deliberately ignore US immigration law in order to illegally gain access to the US benefit system for themselves and their anchor. We already have over 300 million people- IMO, we do not need more people. And if we do, we should be the ones to decide who comes to the US and who doesn't. The anchor baby con game circumvents all of this. We get another citizen whether we want one or not. And the baby is typically born to unskilled, uneducated parents and will require 'subsidy' from the taxpayer in the form of healthcare, education and so on until he or she is 18. I have exactly zero sympathy for anyone who pulls this stunt.

A baby born on US soil is american. Lets not hate the baby for the sins of the parents. This said the parents have a choice.
1.leave the baby with legal family.
2. Put the baby up for adoption.
3. Take the baby back to nation of origin. The child can eventually return legally.
American soil makes the baby american. This does not change the parents status.

Add in changing the Anchor Baby law to eliminate that right for those born, say, after January 1st, 2009.

Needless to say: grandfather in those children born 12-31-2008 or prior as US citizens.

Otherwise; as you stated, I agree 100%
