Heaven help you if you ever incounter those who are violent criminals here illegally. I would not wish that on anyone, even those of you who stick up for them. Do you honestly think all the reports about the violent crimes committed by illegals are nothing but lies? Lke I said, I hope you never learn the truth through personal experience with one of them.

What does me not being white have to do with this? I thought it wasn't about race but apparently it is.

It seems like a lot of these passionate anti-illegal are people that resent their own failures and try to blame it on illegals. Essentially, the "illegal immigrant" has become the boogeyman for people that are failures in life. Geez, I feel so threatened by someone who does not even speak English and has a 4th grade education. Irrational!

Maybe you ought to look at the WELFARE state that WE pay for with our taxes, and the WARS that WE fight in. Does citizenship mean NOTHING to you? Failures in life - BS - it's just the opposite. We are proud of what we've done here as citizens, and what our families have done, and we are NOT giving it away to bums who just walk over and expect us to pay for them.
And, you are using personal attacks, by the way, against the rules.

Article is misleading
ARTICLE SAID: Talk radio hosts, cable newscasters and Presidential hopefuls insist that foreign nationals drive crime rates, swell welfare rolls and steal jobs. But the data tell a very different story.
Between 1994 and 2005, the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. is estimated to have doubled to around 12 million. Yet according the Department of Justice, over that same period the violent crime rate in the U.S. declined by 34.2% and the property crime rate fell by 26.4%, reaching their lowest levels since 1973. Crime has fallen in cities with the largest immigrant populations -- such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami -- as well as border cities like San Diego and El Paso, Texas.
====================================
This is incredibly misleading. Because the crime statistics is for legal immigrants. I doubt many talk radio hosts are saying legal immigrants are committing more crime, it is the illegal aliens who are committing the crimes. By blurring the line between illegal aliens and legal immigrants the person who wrote the article lost his argument.

As one who is neither uneducated, ignorant, prejudiced, or personally threatened by illiterate peasants who have illegally entered this country; I must consider the source (WSJ). The WSJ has a vested interest in propagating this myth; given that they personify the corporate elite ‘masters’ of the illegals.
The unemployment rates have always been skewed. They do NOT include millions of individuals who have exhausted their unemployment benefits, yet remain unemployed. They do NOT include millions of unemployed independent contractors. They do NOT include those who were ineligible to receive unemployment benefits, for various reasons. They do NOT include the ‘underemployed’ who may have been forced to accept jobs beneath their educational or skill level; and are therefore unable to adequately maintain their standard of living.
The unemployment rates ONLY represent those individuals who are currently receiving unemployment benefits; which is minuscule in comparison to those who are actually unemployed.
Your assumption that all illegal immigration opponents are uneducated, ignorant, or prejudiced, is a glaring indication of your lack of knowledge, and your own prejudices. My stance on illegal immigration has nothing whatsoever to do with personal failure; given that I am college degreed, and quite successful; as are the majority of my family, friends and colleagues who share my passion and disdain for this illegal invasion.
I believe in the rule of law; as do most law-abiding citizens. Furthermore, the ‘race card’ has no relevancy in the illegal immigration debate. Illegal alien is not a race; it is an immigration status. I do not condone criminal behavior, irrespective of ones ethnicity. Your castigation of illegal immigration opponents is futile, and will not change the facts. Perhaps this thread should have been more appropriately titled, “Myths About ‘Illegal’ Immigration.”

You want to "educate" us via an article in the Wall Street Journal?! Hahahahahaha, ahem. Dig a little deeper, dude.
Start by reading Samuel Huntington's book, Who Are We: The Challenges to America's National Identity, and his other works on civilization. Then we'll talk. I'll even get you started by providing the info from Amazon.com:

OMG, that is such a wonderful book. I read that one last year and loved it. Add to that book all of the books written by Pat Buchanan, the one by Tom Tancredo, and a ton more of them out there. Once one actually reads even a portion of them they will realize that the illegal problem is much bifgger than any one person could ever realize.

You're joking, right?
Citing broad-based statistics to show trends in a narrow group is a misapplication of the science. That violent crime has gone down overall tells us nothing - absolutely nothing - about the impact of illegal immigration on violent crime. To illustrate the fallacy of such a tactic, insert "ex-felon" for "illegal immigrant," and claim that recidivism is nonexistent. Of course, every study ever done shows that those who have been to prison are far more likely to commit crimes than others.
Anyone who's paying attention realizes that the welfare roles dropped dramatically after the Welfare Reform Act was signed into law. More faulty "analysis."
Could it be that the WSJ has an agenda? Nah... *buries head in sand*

The "why" has been explained to you, over, and over, and over, and over, and over again - you evidently are failing to read the reasons - or, ignoring them.
Which is it?
