He granted amnesty to 3 million "illegal aliens" in 1986. At the time he thought it would only be 300,000 and congress promised to secure the border but didn't. Reagan lived to regret signing that amnesty. Now we have at least quadruple the number today with 23 million Americans out of work. As we can see granting amnesty only encourages more illegal immigration.

So we have the republicans to blame for this?

Both parties are to blame. Don't think that you have one on your side. When was the last time you gave several thousand dollars as a political donation. These clowns aren't representing us; we don't have the money (especially after they pick your pocket). Just tell me what jobs, other than politician, are people willing to spend several times more than the job pays; to get the job?

Republicans want cheap labor and Democrats what votes - we loose both ways.

No both parties. Reagan was sold a bill of goods and he compromised. Congress didn't keep their end of the deal.

Every administration since Reagan's is to blame also as they did nothing to stop it. Reagan as I said was promised the border would be secured and there would be no more amnesties. Obama is advocating for it yet again with millions of unemployed Americans and for 4 times the illegal aliens we had back in Reagan's day. Why do something yet again that was proven not to work and only increased the problem?

Members of both parties use cheap, illegal labor in their businesses. It's not just Republican business owners.

It's not just about sanctuary cities...It's about spending the states money in the right places as it was intended to be spent...

With today's political climate; how do we get lawmakers on our side? I live about 1700 miles from the Mexican border or Puerto Rico - but Spanish is the primary language that I hear when I shop. I know that I live in a vacation community with lots of service jobs. According to the Census Bureau, in 2013, only about 14% of my County's 169,000 were Hispanic - perhaps the others are just visiting?

What I do know is that we are changing the ethnic makeup of America and we are not doing by choice or law. We also have very few politicians on our side. It will be interesting if the Maine Governor wins in court - I doubt it given the recent defeats in Arizona to bills trying to curtail the invasion. Invasion is one word that is never used with illegal immigration. If it was millions of Russians, Iranians or North Koreans lined up on our border or infiltrating our Country; we would have no problems describing it as an invasion and declaring war.

I never heard of this guy until his standoff with nurse stompy feet, but I'm liking him more and more. And in Maine of all places.
Hooray! Smart man!

Finally, someone with a little backbone. Taxpayer dollars are not to go to people who show up illegally and violate the laws. If they want to support, go back to their country and get it. If you sneak in here illegally you have no business receiving handouts from law abiding citizens.
