“Home, no, there is nothing there for me,” said Mr. Gomez, 27, who is from Puebla, near Mexico City, but lived half his life in California before he was caught and deported a year ago after the police caught him drinking in public. “Nothing for me here, either, but I do my drug and wait to see if I can get back to the other side.”

There are small towns and villages all over Mexico that have been largely emptied of their young males, with profound effects. Most of them do send money home, which is Mexico's second or third overall largest source of income.

Mexico will never take care of its own. The US is too close and too handy to have as a safety valve.

It's why things will never change. They won't rest until the reconquista is complete.

Mexico has never been able/willing to do much of anything for itself. It couldn't even hang onto Texas (thank God). During colonial days, it welcomed white US settlers as a buffer against the Comanches.

A weak, corrupt, hypocritical country that could be so much more if it cared to do so. It doesn't. It's easier to ship the poor illiterates like the drunk to the US for us to take care of.

Well said all the way around. The novelty is that many of them think that they deserve part of the US. If any part of the US fell under Mexican control it would become just as screwed up as Mexico

There will never be a Reconquista, you know why ? Your average, scummy azz Mexican illegal alien will
never do anything that really takes WORK. They come for the freebies, plus, everyone of them brings
some ugly bit-ch to start popping out spawn so they can have a foothold here.

Because of that POS Obama it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Every low class illegal in
South America will attempt to rush the border. They all expect amnesty.....

They never bring the beauties because the powers-that-be scoop those up while they are still young.

For all the criminal invaders the US is the only taste of freedom they have ever known. They take and take and take, but would never do anything to achieve any level of freedom in Mexico.

Cowardly freeloaders, the lot of them.
