They allow themselves to be taken advantage of by coming to our country illegally to work. They aren't the innocents here.

My take is, I knew this a long time ago & don't care. Those guys are some of the best chefs so keep up the great work!
European American? Really? Seriously? Hell; Americans of straight Spanish family are "European" American as well as "Hispanic". Too; why do you leave out American Black or Asian people? They're just as "American" as any other US citizen. Sheesh!

Americans are soft. lol If we're gonna go there; illegal aliens are softer since they're NOT wanted in their countries because they're probably no good. Too; Hitler thought we were soft, a few years later we helped take down Germany and crushed Japan pretty much alone.

Compared to where most of them lived and their working conditions back home, this is paradise.

So you believe one set of laws(wages) should be followed, but not another(immigration)???

What hypocrisy, you can't pick and choose which laws to follow.

First of all, not all restaurants have illegals working in the back of the house.

There is a large restaurant chain conglomerate that uses E-verify and they have no problems finding American citizens and legal immigrants to take those back of the house jobs. Some even have Americans working in the kitchen that have been there for several years.

That said, when Ted Kennedy agreed to allow E-verify, he only allowed it if it wouldn't be used to screen out illegals in existing jobs. So, some of these restaurant chains that use it could well have illegals in their kitchens but they are not allowed to run them through E-verify.

When GW Bush was president, he ordered the SSA to send out 8 million no-match letters. Before it could be done, the despicable ACLU sued to stop it by using the flimsy excuse that E-verify has a 4% error rate. Never mind that the SSA has procedures in place to correct those errors. Cowards that they are, the ACLU took their case to the Ninth Circuit court which is filled with leftist activist judges. Of course, the ACLU got the verdict they wanted. If they had the courage of their convictions, then why not take their case to another circuit court?

It's horrifying that there are some who ridicule the concern over what diseases illegals who work in kitchens might have. Legal immigrants go through health screenings before being approved to immigrate here. Illegal aliens go through no such screenings.

I'm sure that someone is now going to say something like "If you don't like illegals working in restaurants, then don't eat out." If it were that simple! Illegals have been caught working in meat and poultry processing plants and factories that can foods, etc. In other words, they have infested the entire food chain.

Maybe so, but that doesn't give them the right to come to our country illegally and to work here illegally.
They know what they are doing is against the law. Most of them are adults and know right from wrong. They are just as guilty as the employers who hire them. I have no sympathy for them being taken advantage of any more than I have sympathy for other lawbreakers.

Around here I would presume most Hispanics, particularly the younger ones, working in fast foods are Citizens. I have a good friend with a small restaurant chain whose cooks are virtually all Hispanic and all are legal...or they have good enough paper to fool a knowledgeable boss. The industry has become Hispanic, like the residential constructions trades, such that you need to speak Spanish to work in the back of the house.

Where you do find illegals is the busboy and dish washers in the local restaurants. Both the Indian and Japanese restaurants locally have Hispanics doing the clean up work. And they are likely illegals and paid off the books.
