The Mestizo Mexican does have a hard time with booze, not unlike the problems that Native Americans have. They have a gene that takes away their ability to consume and react like a normal person. I am not sure what it is called but the Native Americans have this problem and it is part of their makeup.

True enough; due to the White Supremacy of Hispanic culture; it is not 'politically correct' for a Mestizo to acknowledge their indigenous heritage.

Racist akin to a 'White Boy' like myself avoiding the direct sun due to the high risk of skin cancer. Whereas a darker skinned person is at less risk.
Not racism here; reality--------unless one wishes to call DNA racist?

Post the scientific study that found this DNA.
If you make bold statements like what ozark made, i expect to see facts to back up those claims. I never knew native americans and mexicans had a gene that takes away their ability to consume and react like a normal person. White, blacks and asians etc don't have this gene?

Its OK for you to post speculative non sense ad nauseum yet you demand proofs from others. I can find links to support just about any BS I want to spew so googlin up proof really isnt proof at all.

I never post anything speculative. Ozark last time posted an article claiming a legal american was an illegal just because they had a latino name. She definitely hates all latinos.

It is known that alcoholism is a serious problem for Native Americans and there is research that supports the theory that there are specific genetic differences that contribute to the problem. How is this racist? Would you prefer no one consider this possibility? If we study this maybe we can help find a way to address the problem. In your mind I guess it is better to pretend it doesn't exist because to acknowledge it would be 'racist'.

Scientists have known for some time that people vary considerably in their drinking behavior and in their sensitivity to the effects of alcohol. The rate of alcohol metabolism can vary as much as threefold among people with similar drinking habits, and recent studies indicate that the development of alcoholism is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. "It appears that the development of alcoholism is not a case of genetics versus the environment; it is one of genetics and the environment," says Dr. Ting-Kai Li, distinguished professor of medicine and biochemistry at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
<snip>
The quest for genes that influence alcohol abuse follows two paths. One goal is to locate genes that predispose a person to alcoholism. The other is to identify genes that help to prevent this from happening. Li and his coworkers have made important advances in this latter category. "We have identified two genes that protect against heavy drinking, and these are particularly prevalent among Asians," Li says. "We have shown that Native Americans, who have a high rate of alcoholism, do not have these protective genes. The one that is particularly effective is a mutation of the gene for the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase, which plays a major role in metabolizing alcohol. The mutation is found very frequently in Chinese and Japanese populations but is less common among other Asian groups, including Koreans, the Malayo-Polynesian group, and others native to the Pacific Rim. "We've also looked at Euro-Americans, Native Americans, and Eskimos, and they don't have that gene mutation," says Li. Thus, incidentally, the study of genetic mutations and alcoholism links native North-American populations to central Asian ancestors, not to those from China and Japan.

Not all people have the same amounts of the two enzymes that break down ethanol. Women generally have less alcohol dehydrogenase in their stomachs, which, as it will be discussed later, makes them more susceptible to the effects of alcohol. Since it cannot be broken down as quickly, more ethanol passes into the blood and body, where it lingers longer than in men.
Some people, in particular Asians, often have a genetically different form of aldehyde dehydrogenase that is not active. This leads to the so-called "flushing reaction," where the person becomes hot and sweaty, dizzy, nauseous, and turns red in the face. In addition, many Asians also have an inactive form of alcohol dehydrogenase, the enzyme that produces the toxic breakdown product acetaldehyde. This makes such individuals much less able to eliminate the molecule from their bodies.

Genetics - there may be variations in how alcohol affects people of different races. For instance, many people of East Asian origin have an enzyme, which causes a strong allergy like reaction to alcohol.
Drinking and Alcoholism
There happens to be a plethera of studies that have been done in regards to how alcohol relates to people and their genetic makeup. All one has to do is look around and they are all over out there and have been for upteen years now. This is not racially inteneded at all but genetically, as it were.
