Pro-That argument is older (and smellier) than my great grandfather's socks. Less than 5% of all illegal aliens work picking fruit and vegetables. Agriculture is modernizing. Between LEGAL field workers and machinery, there isn't much need for illegal alien labor. So where do you think these hardworking folks go?
They end up doing the jobs that used to be done by Americans. Just talk to any out of work construction worker....

Got that right, my husband was one of those out of work construction workers. he still wears his bags, has no issue with manual labor. I worked on a farm digging potatoes and picking corn and strawberries. People in bubbles need to realize there are still many of us hard working Citizens left.

there are many, many highschool and college kids that are willing to work in restaurants, fastfood, ect... but for the fact that illegals are now taking these jobs. Construction workers use to be able to make a living and homes were built that would last, now you have illegals who have driven the wages down, and who only are told what to do... many have had no training, and so you see homes that appear to look good, but quality.. once built by experienced professionals is now on the downside.. cheap unskilled labor results in cheap much less quality built homes.

Your father is very fortunate. Unless he is a contractor himself. I have a friend in the San Jose area. He has been a General Contractor for 30 years and says that illegal workers are a big problem in the industry. Being out bidded by those who use them. His day will come.
The previous poster is so right. Our home now was built with day worker, illegals by the sub-contractors. They are a real mess. The developer has lawsuits and complaints constantly. Stucco was falling off of the houses. The soil wasn't compacted correcting and the foundations are having problems. Just problem after problem. In fact, my neighbor was one of the first people in the second phase. He said that good sub-contractors literally walked off the job because the developer wanted them to shoddy jobs that the illegals were ok with using. They also had two man teams that walked the neighborhood at night until the workers returned the next morning, due to the theft of them coming back in and stealing products during the night.

WIth the spike of green card holders getting citizenship, it's obvious Latinos are getting overwhelmed by illegal family members being in harm's way of all these anti-illegal immigration laws. Make them pay a fine, learn english, give them citizenship. America needs these workers, there's not enough legal workers to do blue collar work. Republicans have not recovered from Proposition 187 in California denying illegal immigrants certain rights. There was a spike of Latinos gaining voting rights after the Prop passed, hurting republicans in the next elections.

NO! Illegal immigrants need a one way trip back to where they came from-------end of discussion.
If it means catching and holding them in tent cities in, say, North Dakota-------so be it.

I agree. Besides most Americans would much rather pay an extra nickle or dime for their fruit and veggies at the local store anyway if it ment getting rid of illegal aliens.
