OP, can you provide details on the "link" between a job shortage and immigration? The article did not refer to a study saying any such thing.
Entire industries would collapse without illegal immigration. This is not a voice of support. It's a voice of concern regarding how pathetically dependent our nation has become.

"Entire industries"? Name an industry that would collapse entirely if illegals were sent packing. I would be interested to hear your response because there are no jobs that Americans won't do. However, Americans expect a decent wage and safe working conditions. Illegals undercut Americans when it comes to wages. With the illegals gone, companies would once again have to pay a living wage.

The agriculture industry in California. It is enormous and provides a lot of the (healthier) food for the country. Lettuce, almonds, oranges, tomatoes... the list goes on and on.

I think it's time to test out your opinion here. I def agree it'd hurt losing illegal workers but, a full on collapse, not real likely. What MAY hurt real bad for Cali's farmers is the drought with their governor declaring a drought emergency.

^Nope. It wouldn't collapse. Instead, it would force sleazy farmers to use the agricultural guest worker visa (which has no caps on it) instead of using cheap, exploitable, illegal labor.

Yes but it is the only important industry I can think of that could face a crisis at least in the short term. It is actually critical for feeding the country. It would not collapse, no, I should have clarified that but it would be a drastic sudden change in how an enormous multi billion dollar industry operates that is critical for the country.

We're not talking about housekeepers, construction workers, leaf blowers, and cooks here. This is much more important. So I think it's necessary that there is a clear plan in place as any repercussions could be drastic for our domestic food supply.

No, it wouldn't! Americans would get their jobs back and our tax coffers would increase. The only ones dependent on illegal alien labor are the greedy employers who want to pay less.

Nope. The greedy growers would have to use the unlimited visas for legal, foreign ag workers instead. Only 3% of illegals are picking crops anyway.

Not to mention industries like restaurants and construction which used to hire Americans would have to pay fair wages. I see a win win because deporting would mean less in welfare because I wouldn't have to support illegals and those Americans on welfare could now work these jobs. Not to mention teens would have jobs because before illegals teens were usually dishwashers at restaurants.

Dream on.

Entire industries would spring up, wages would rise, people would have more disposable income, and scholarships and additional healthcare would be available.

Here is a mind numbing statistic:

People not in the labor force rose 631,000 in the last two months.

America is waking up, but will it be in time?
