Illegal Immigrants Church sues Oklahoma House Bill 1804 (forcing illegal out of Oklahoma)
Strict immigration law rattles Okla. businesses - USATODAY.com
At Iglesia Piedra Angular (Cornerstone Hispanic Church) in Tulsa, senior pastor José Alfonso estimates that he has lost 15% of his 425-member congregation.
His church was a plaintiff in two lawsuits filed by the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders that challenged the constitutionality of the law. Both were dismissed, the latest last month when U.S. District Judge James Payne ruled that the plaintiffs, who included illegal immigrants, didn't have standing to sue. He said they would not have been hurt if they had not violated U.S. law.
The coalition says it will appeal.

This is taking a political stance. Which is none of the churches business. They should lose their tax exempt status.

Yes! Thank you Judge Payne for saying they don't have a standing to sue, and telling it like it is! They wouldn't have been hurt if they hadn't broken the law!

Hawkeye48 is right. They shouldn't be tax exempt since they are involved in politics.

Good point they are becoming political. If I was a citizen in that area I would sue the churches for aiding and abetting illegal aliens which is against federal law.
Aiding and Abetting is a Federal Crime.
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
"Any person who . . . encourages or induces an alien to . . . reside . . . knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such . . . residence is . . . in violation of law, shall be punished as provided . . . for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs . . . fined under title 18 . . . imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."
ProPublish Reference
Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):
A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:
* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or
* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or
* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.
