Then running with this: ANY person born in the US gets birthright. Why not diplomats kids? Their parents are def NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the US so anchor kids shouldn't be either.

Its about time the Congress is taking action. We have recently seen the Chinese Operation of a Baby center in LA County just last week. Now have enforce the simple issues. Like if there is no Visa and or Passport out you go!

Sounds like a good bill to me. But it seems illegal things get awarded now a days.

No, your clue is in your own quote of the 14th in regards to birthright citizenship...."and" subject the jurisdiction. The word "and" is the qualifier. Illegal aliens nor their offspring are under our jurisdiction as far as allegiance. The parents are under the jurisdiction of their own country and so would their offspring. No amendment or new bill is actually needed just clarification from the Supreme Court rather than allowing this "practice" to continue.

If an amendment were required, I would dare anyone to fight it's progress and survive reelection,

Agreed. That's def applied to kids of diplomats but NOT to anchor kids. IMHO it should be the other way because at least the diplomats here here legally. Tho the best thing would make it the law for birthright to only go for the kids of at least 1 US citizen.

Stats and polls show that the majority of Americans oppose birthright citizenship for kids of illegal aliens. However, the voices on the other side (with an agenda of course) would fight it tooth and nail including many congress members. This bill has been introduced every 2 years but never makes it to committee or is brought up for a vote. I am hoping that eventually it will be.

Too little, too late. Why didn't the GOP do anything when Bush was president and they had the majority? If a GOP president is lucky enough to win 2016, you can bet your ass that the GOP is NOT going to give this bill another run. This is campaign fodder, and nothing more. Anyone in this thread who actually thinks the GOP is serious about this, is as gullible as a birther

Also, for those who ask is this constitutional, it is not at all. The bill's purpose is to just beg for it to be taken to the SCOTUS, where they hope the judges will rule in the bill's favor.

I agree.... Statutes can extend citizenship (e.g. to Puerto Ricans) but not strip it away.
