I'm not sure if the colonists recruited by Stephen F. Austin (with permission of the Mexican government which was having trouble with its far-flung state of Texas full of what they saw as wild indians) were made Mexican citizens. But the "Texicans" fought for independence under the Mexican flag of 1824.

Picture yourself in a very poor country, with very little or nothing to eat. Picture trying to provide for your family and create opportunities for others. Wouldn't you look to developed nations like the US, UK etc and want to make a better life there? I think you would.

All I am saying is that there are deeper reasons as to why some countries have absolute wealth and some do not. Its not just simply because of the citizens in it!

I don't agree with illegal immigration, but I do think that everyone is an individual. Not ALL aliens are criminals because of the acts of one,
just like not all Californians are criminals because one loose cannon shot somebody in LA.
A legal illegal?

The word "Criminal" stands for someone who has committed a crime.
Sneaking across the the border is against the Law. Breaking the Law is a Crime. Every illegal is a Criminal. No matter how you slice it and with no exceptions.

I think some people think "criminal" must include violent acts.

Illegal entry and felony document fraud are crimes -- but crimes like embezzlement, other kinds of fraud, theft, bribery --- non-violent crimes.

You took my response out of context. I never once stated that an illegal could be legal.

As I have stated earlier, I don't support illegal immigration, but things are not always black and white. I'm not arguing about the law, but some of the arguments against imigration on this forum can be extremely basic indeed!
