Rule of thumb here in Arizona; the further north one goes from the Mexican border, the less Spanish spoken.

The problem in Miami is the arrogance of their demeanor for speaking Spanish. What they do not realize , is that, before the Hispanic invasion , Miami was ENGLISH ONLY. When it was invaded , that changed the language. English speakers only are isolated and the but of various jokes and conversations in spanish.
THIS IS THE UNITED STATES SPEAK ENGLISH

If the United States wanted English to be spoken then it should of declared it the official language, that's it.

No it is NOT - some PEOPLE are bi-lingual - but if bi-lingual means Spanish AND English are both acceptable and known to you - then use ENGLISH.

I think you are using bi-lingual to mean Spanish OR English are both acceptable.

And No - they are not

If you're in New Orleans, and live in a French speaking neighborhood...then you should be permitted to speak French, and local businesses should accomodate you.

In a sense, English has been declared the "offical language" of the United States -

For instance, all legal documents, if they are to be enforced in a court of law, must be in English. All oaths are done in English. Ballots are in English. Government Signage is to be in English. Drivers licenses are to be in English. Air Traffic Control is to be in English.

However, if there were a GROUP of Martians living in your town, and they had established their businesses in that town, then the Martians are going to patronize the business where THEIR language is spoken.

If that isn't yours, you're the one who will lose out.
