What makes you think they're coming over here for $7 an hour. I think they are coming over for a lot more than that. You think the Chandler rapist was making $7 an hour running heavy equipment? I still wonder why we haven't heard anymore about the company he worked for and how many more were on his payroll. Over OR under the table. I think many of them are crossing over to get involved in some high dollar unsavory type of behavior. I think some of them figure it this way. "Now that I made it over, I'll figure out away to prey on others that want to come over." Such as smuggling, kidnapping etc.

Here's what I don't get, Border Patrol shoots sleaze-ball drug runner and it's in all of the news and investagations out the ares and everyone in an uproar. But turn it on it's head and sleaze-ball drug runner kills a BP and nothing, you have to hunt under a rock to find just a blurb about the it.

Our government seems to think it's more important to throw away billions of dollars chasing down "insurgents" on the other side of the world while things like this happen in our own backyard. I think MS-13 and guys like this are more of a problem in this country than some dudes out in the desert who don't like Americans.

Ok, why is is assumed that it was an illegal immigrant coming over for work? I read the following at the LA Times website and the type of vehicle got me thinking. When the people running over here are coming for jobs, they either are on foot, in the back of some beat up van or pick-up truck, or in some cargo container in a semi or train. But a Hummer? When was the last time you hear people were smuggled in via Hummer? Sounds more like a drug smuggler to me.

Per the LA Times website article:
The agent was attempting to stop them by placing spike strips in their path when he was struck by the Hummer, the spokesman said.

We have an Army base and an Air Force base in that area- Did we run out of firepower?

1. I didn't even see "Hummer".

2. What does it matter why he was here? The guy was either coming here to mow yards or maybe he was here to smuggle drugs. Either way it's completely selfish to take someone's life over a very petty gain like that. The issue is that the guy killed someone.

The article in the OP didn’t have that information as it was developing. I found it in another article that had a little more to the report and identified the type of vehicle that struck the agent.

It matters a lot. You need to know who the person was and why they were coming over to know who to go after. Do you assume it was some illegal looking for a $7 hour job or some drug smuggler running drugs in a high priced off-road vehicle? Where do you want to spend the resources to go after the killer of the agent?

That’s the problem with these immigration threads. When a crime is committed and there is a remote possiblity it was an illegal, then it is assumed it was an illegal immigrant and related to the immigration problem. The fact is a lot of crimes are not related to immigrants and anti-illegal-immigrant posters are too quick to point fingers without actually asking some rational questions.

No one is arguing that the agent should not have been killed doing their job. The fact is we don’t know who killed the agent and without calmer heads asking the question “who drives a hummer in an area known for drug smuggling” you’ll never find the killer if you only focus on illegal immigrants.
