I know all about the Irish culture here and there, thanks I still travel there to visit family. And why doesn't your mother speak English? Doesn't feel the need? I really dont think it is that hard if you really try, I learned Gaelic ( dead language)and German as well as some Spanish..
My mother and father own a farm in South Florida, she rarely ever leaves it. If she does well, she lives in South Florida where everyone speaks Spanish. Truly no need to learn English, plus with work and raising her kids she really never had time.
But she assimilated in every other way, it is not like she is walking around with a sombrero selling mango's on a stick.
You betcha!!! Their ladies club won the Jr. B national championship last year.
Cool I will look into it, saw they also had some more activities and events in the city.
I married a man of Viking decent, he always wonders why there is nothing for him!! I always joke back that I don't think Horned hats and pilliging is a club!!!

Hey I like mangos and sombreos!!!! Lol
Sounds like a nice life.
At least she doesn't have to walk around talking to herself because no one else knows the language. LOL

LOL!!! He should give hurling a try. While it's Irish to the core, running around like a barbarian armed with a wooden club would probably really speak to his internal Viking!! And lets not forget that the Vikings DID settle and pillage a good deal of eastern Ireland!

Oh he'd LOVE hurling then!! I think when I first played it, it must've sparked off my genetic memory or something because a lot of it (including the logic of the game dynamics) came pretty naturally and I'm NOT a gifted athlete!! Gaelic football however took a bit of time to acquire the taste. But that's pretty much all I play now... It's hard to get enough folks here in the south to run around chasing a funky baseball armed with a potentially deadly weapon...
