I am not impressed; if anything, most of Chavez's grandiose plans will likely blow up in his face.

Chavez is a looney. However, we should be VERY concerned about the incredibly weak dollar. Friendship will only go so far when our allies lose big money. We also have to worry about unfriendly foreigners buying up American businesses and property.

India voted recently not to accept the dollar anymore. People might laugh at India, but that country is seeing a dramatic reversal of fortune.

The Japanese bought up lots of our assets back ca. 1990-------and, promptly lost 'em shortly thereafter.

Maybe a weak dollar is the medicine this country needs to break its dependency on imports-------including oil.

I am curious if any of his remarks, such as this one, are taken seriously on the stock markets of the world and whether that could possibly weaken the dollar further.

I doubt it.

Chavez as of late has been shooting himself in the foot with some of his inane comments---------to the point he is pissing off some other Latin American countries.
