Zamorano arrived in to the U.S. from Mexico at age 6 with her parents and lived most of her life as an undocumented immigrant. But with the help of a lawyer, in 2014 she won temporary status through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Al Jazeera; give it up, please. Their kind are illegal aliens, NOT "undocumented immigrants". Most Americans want their kind GONE from the US.

No sympathy here. Our adult son with Down syndrome is seeing benefit cuts because we need to fund the illegals. We have 4,000 people with developmental disabilities waiting for services here in KS. Anchor babies qualify for healthcare from their arrival, actually before. Using the emergency room 3 times as often as a citizen to get free medical care while we would have a huge deductible before having to pay still a large percentage of any bill.

We had high end health insurance when he was a child and they constantly denied services that he needed. We adopted our son when he was 4 weeks old so we knew he would need medical insurance. No one ran an article to assist us or the other families and there were and are many. It is not uncommon for a couple to divorce so that the family won't lose everything trying to provide medical care for a family member. 75% of medical bankrupties are people who had health insurance.

Maybe these illegals need to do some research and planning before coming with their hands out. I asked some time ago if illegals were being served that were disabled and was told "no" but they were anxiously waiting for the time when they would get services.

We don't have enough to go around. Medical care is supposed to be good and much cheaper in the country of origins of these illegals and many US citizens go to Mexico for affordable care - isn't that twisted? I am guessing this woman has family in her country of origin. Actually, I have said "We can pay for our son now but after we are gone, what will happen?" and what they said "Do you have other children that can provide for him?" So, I say we ask these illegals the same thing as they are surely not better than my family. And, yes, my older son will always make sure our younger one gets the care he needs BUT I wish there was a place we could go and have someone else take care of our expenses and not have to worry about our needs from cradle to grave.

When they converted to the system of farming out Medicaid to for-profit insurance companies, I read stories of services being denied to our US citizens that were just horrible. Ones that would let a disabled person wilt away. I didn't see that in national news.

So, what happened to the father? There best bet is to go home to family. That's what people do here.

I too wondered where the father was, and why this woman had two more children while illegally in the United States. They also profile a young man who became disabled in a car accident in Arizona. (What are the chances another illegal, drunk and unlicensed, was at fault?) This stuck out to me:

“I couldn’t believe that the country I call home would do that me,” he said later. His mother left her four other sons with family in the U.S. and accompanied Calderon to the facility in Mexico.

Eh, you may call this place your home but you were not invited. Again I ask where the father is, how many of the mother's five kids she had while uninsured and illegal in the U.S., and how many of their illegal relatives did they bring? He was able to recover in Mexico so it's not like they had nowhere to go for treatment!

People who do not believe in law, ought not be rewarded at all for any reason. Many American Citizens out there, in dire need of help, and for some unforeseen reason, cannot get the benefits they deserve. This is fair, this is chit.

Yes, it's sad what happened to this girl. However, we have Americans who are in dire straits who get denied help when they need it. Our citizens come first.

The blame for the predicament that this family is in, falls solely on the mother. She knew she had no business thumbing her nose at our immigration laws. Yet she went ahead and came here illegally with no thought as to what future consequences there would be for her kids.

It seems like the only ones sending them back home are the hospitals. This hospital administrator in Florida says they'd gladly pay the $30,000 to repatriate someone who is costing them millions in care. She says that in 2007 illegals cost FL hospitals $100 million!

Default Without federal help, young immigrants in the US fight for health care

Children Brought In By Illegal Aliens Lack Health Care

There, thats a more accurate title. Immigrants are people who applied for and received permission to enter the US and establish permanent residence. Those who enter without permission are criminals, plain and simple.
