I'm sure that his DC neighborhood is one of the most affluent with no flophouses filled with illegals anywhere near his ivory tower.
Yep, he's an anti-white Jew. Which is seems to be a pretty common sort of person these days in our media.

I can't even read people like this author anymore who blur the lines between legal and illegal, ignore that the fact that were was no welfare state back then, and make no mention of the fact that one-third of immigrants who couldn't cut it back then went home! Nobody goes home now.

And at least the Irish speak English!

Thank you for a sensible honest post. People of our past who came here legally to become American Citizens, did so with no attention of being dishonest. They had every intention of becoming American Citizens, legally no matter how long or hard a process it was.

People I am sick of your games of intertwine the phrase illegal and immigrants in the same sentence. Which clearly there is a drastic difference, and you know it.

People who jump a gosh damn fence to come here, and then make demands, deserve no respect from any of us do they.

People have the gall to break the law, then make demands on the Country who takes them in, something very wrong with this picture.

1607 marked the beginning of a nation of English settlers along with non-English who were from the British Isles, of Welsh, Scotch, Irish, and Scotch-Irish extraction."
1619 Started part of the trans-Atlantic slave trade;
1656 -Anti-Quaker Immigration law-designed to prevent the coming of the Quakers in spite of the severe penalties, members of that sect continued to come.
1670 At least ten thousand persons were 'spirited' away from England in one year. One kidnapper testified -poor boys and girls were hustled on board ships and virtually sold into slavery.
1717
Germans settled in Pennsylvania without any certificates demonstrating their identity, they ordered to take the oath of allegiance:they were ignorant of the language, settling together and making a separate people, it was virtually a dead letter, for the ship masters did not get the required license to bring immigrants, and yet were always admitted.
1773, all naturalization was abruptly stopped, and heavy financial burdens were imposed upon emigrants and ship masters who violated the law. Did did not stop them from migrating
1790 Alien Naturalization Act limited to aliens who were 'free white persons' and thus left out servants, slaves, and most women, naturalization offered to persons of 'good moral character.'1816 5 million Irish immigrants came to the United States. Their presence provoked a strong reaction among certain native-born Americans.
1848 ended the Mexican-American War acquiring- Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, California, and parts of Utah and Nevada from Mexico. 80,000 Mexicans living in the territory are allowed to remain.
1868 20,000 and 30,000 immigrants were naturalized in New York City courts in the six weeks before election so they could vote.
1880 Chinese came to the country to participate in the gold rush, authorized by the Burlingame Treaty
1880 saw a huge immigration explosion. The period between 1880 and 1924 witnessed an average of 560,000 immigrants per year, amounting to over 25 million immigrants over a 44 year period. This period saw a large increase in Jewish and Italian immigration to the US.

1892 Ellis Island openedand ended operation in 1954. Ellis Island processed about 12 million immigrants of the millions that came to this country.

However, the door was left open for Mexicans under the
Bracero Treaty.(who even then were desired by employers for their cheap labor) Labor shortages caused the federal gov to set up a program to import Mexican laborers to work temporarily in agriculture, and they stayed.

Who was legal the 12MIL? and they I believe were the very wealthy-who came through Ellis

Under the Bracero program Mexicans were not here illegally. It's irrelevant what these greedy employers want. They are obligated to follow our immigration and labor laws just as everyone else is. It is only they that profit from illegal immigration not the majority of Americans who are given the shaft instead. If Mexicans were only granted temporary visas to work in agriculture and they stayed beyond them then they are in violation of our immigration laws and their visas and need to go back home. Is this news to you?

the Germans made their own little country and and kept their language and traditions we call them - AMISH! still here!

we made Mexican land ours via war and shenanigans - we recruited the black, Chinese and Mexicans to work here, when did that stop?? Do you think they had no babies during that time?

In the past many people did NOT come legally and even when the controls were kept by states - people just did what they wanted- today it is the same thing--
POINT is-- let's NOT talk about your past relatives unless you can prove Ellis island's documentation.

if you see our nations history it is an ongoing problem. make laws -change laws --people came and went
and some always complaining. Specially when the IRISH came poor souls - I believe in order and rule of law but that's why we need laws to be current for the times
I also see the face of Europe is changing...

Uh; if we're gonna go there, the different American Indian tribes had their share of donnybrooks over water, hunting grounds, women and so on.

Ellis Island: I'm 100 percent sure that ALL countries had their share of illegal aliens before any of us were born. But; few countries offer birthright anymore unless at least 1 parent's a citizen of that country.

I'm of Irish family. WE as a group had to clean up our own lives BEFORE we were accepted in the bigger world. Like put a stop to brawling, drinking too much and so on.
