Most of the people here need to do some research, an amnesty doesn't only help the people who came into the U.S.A illegaly... it helps most of the immigrants. Since there are so many immigrants in process of deportation and other imigration process, the people who came into the U.S.A legally have to wait a lot of years to become citizens, right now they are processing aplications passed in the year 2002 so there are millions of legal imigrants left behind. 7 years behind.... also there are A LOT of imigrants who are not above the law and come in legally with a working visa or student visa and they renew it a lot but the process is too long and therefor they cant become recidents and so therfore they can't become citicenz. another thing is, that the people who really are trying to avoid the law will not get the citizenship. like in the last amnesty there will be requirements like you can't have a criminal record and if you avoided taxes they won't give you it or you have to have an extremely good reason of why you didn't and if you aply but you dont pass the requirements you can end up in your home country.. why? because to aprove the process you have to go to your home country where the counsil can deny the process when yo are there. to get the recidence each person have to pay at least 1000 dollras multiply that by the number of immigrants who will aply and youll see how much money the govt. will make out of this, and in this momment it will help a lot the economy, and afterwords this aliens will pay taxes which can benefit everyone. cause as a right now some immigrants who are legal but arent citizens pay taxes and they cant get back the money because they arent citizens so its going to the american race which is unfair... so before you guys say anything do some research and see how this can help kicking bad people out of the country letting good people in and getting money for the economy. and for all of you racists... search how U.S.A depends on immigrants... thats what made the country as big as it is... search how much of the economy depend on little bussines and immigrants locals.. you'll feel stupid afterwords. cause to be honest without this imigrants U.S.A will be nothing.... not even OBAMA would be here.
Just realized that there is a 75% chance that amnesty will be granted to the millions of illegals in 2009. Clinton, Obama and McCain all favor amnesty. Only one who doesn't is Romney and he has no chance so actually it's 95% certain. Happy everyone?

Two quick notes here:
#1: we are in a deep recession (possible depression) and we do not need many additional legal immigrants.
#2: referring to the above; we certainly do not need illegal aliens at all-------even if times were good.

The last amnesty showed us quite a few things. One, if they aren't forced to learn English the usually don't. Two, if they weren't making much money before they became Americans they usually don't after. Three, it spread hope around the World that there would be another which caused illegal immigration to spike.
I don't see increasing the amount of people in the US using social services but not paying into them as a good thing. We aren't getting the Doctors and Engineers.

First of all yes, it is hard to become a citizen of the US -- just like it is hard to become a citizen of France or Egypt or Brazil or Canada. Usually things that are 'hard' are worthwhile endeavors. And sovereign nations have a duty to ensure that the people they allow to become citizens will not be a drain on the rest of the citizenry. The way to streamline the process isn't to make everyone 'legal'.
Secondly and perhaps most importantly ...... Obama is not an immigrant. Nor was his mother, nor was his father. Obama and his mother are native born American citizens. Obamas father was not an immigrant, rather he was in HI on a students visa -- he was never an immigrant and he never became a US citizen.
Instead of thinking of ways the rest of us 'owe' illegal immigrants, maybe you should study harder in the public schools subsidized by American taxpayers.

Still, anyone that was around in 86 knows that ammnesty is a joke! My opinion on all H-1B workers (not legal immigrants) is that we don't need them at all. Why not just pay our own teachers, nurses & brick layers, a wage they can live on. By the way ,I thought discussion of rational ideas was the thing here. I didn't know that all of those Haitians and Cubans were so educated, not to mention many of the Muslims that have little to no education. NO, most immigrants that come to this country these days legally are not the educated and hard working ones we should only let in.

Apparently you don’t realize “immigrants” aren’t being deported; “illegal aliens” are. They should appreciate the generosity of this country, and return home. We owe them nothing.
