I came across this article this morning and I have read parts of it, it is really long but it is the best that I have seen and will finish it later: Making and Remaking America: Immigration into the United States | Hoover Institution

The information I am looking for is at what point "immigration" (legal or otherwise, mostly otherwise) becomes "colonization"

I believe the illegal aliens are trying to "colonize" the US. You know, they used to come in quietly in small numbers and stay under the radar, now they screaming, picketing, mooching, demanding and suing for "rights" when the only "right" they should have is to be escorted to the border to go back where they came from.

We are hearing lot more Spanish being spoken than we used to also. Thanks for posting this article.

I don't think anyone has a problem with immigrants as long as they followed the law to get in and assimilate to our culture. Our culture is such a mish mash of a melting pot anyway and that is part of Americas appeal. You can come here and still be who you want to be, worship who you want but you do need to fit in and not rock the boat.

Immigration becomes colonization when those immigrants refuse to follow the laws of the land that they chose to move to and they force the native people to adapt to their ways. Colonization? More like Invasion!

The problem today is that there are so many illegals making demands for rights above and beyond the average citizen and the president is actually listening if not encouraging them.

I have a problem with our current immigration system; we are importing far too many STEM workers from India and they are stealing middle class jobs right out from under us. That needs to STOP.
