A rights group has urged US immigration authorities to end "retaliatory" measures against detainees as an estimated 500 female undocumented immigrants hunger strike in a Texas for-profit detention centre, in protest of the facility's harsh conditions.

US urged to free immigrant female hunger strikers - Al Jazeera English

Al Jazeera: those people you're talking about are ILLEGAL aliens who NEED to stay locked up. Too; maybe YOU need to talk about how illegals are treated by countries like Qatar, Saudi, Kuwait then get back with us.

Well, it sounds like what we need to do is speed up the legal process and get them back home, their country of origin so they'll have good food and treatment that they feel they deserve.

No, you don't free criminals because they go on a hunger strike. Obviously, these women have a history of making bad choices like entering our country without authorization. I was always taught that "beggars can't be choosers."

We have senior citizens that eat pet food and others who eat from dumpsters in our country so.............

I applaud them for going on a hunger strike. Let them starve, since it is THEIR CHOOSING not to eat, THEY can take the full responsibility for taking THEIR own lives. Better then deportations, now we have that many less to worry about them crossing the border AGAIN and then committing more crimes AGAIN.

If conditions are so miserable, these illegals have the choice to go back to their country of origin.

absolutely, round them up and release them back to their own "legal" countries, let their own countries feed, shelter and cloth them.

This is the facility that they are complaining about:

https://www.ice.gov/factsheets/facilities-hutto

Cable tv, radio, computers, library, arts & crafts, medical, clothing, and food. Not to mention the cosmetologist that comes twice a week, dance and aerobic classes, volleyball, and two soccer fields, and a gym with workout equipment. Movie nights and monthly birthday parties. Those poor illegals....such inhumane treatment! And we taxpayers are footing the bill at $150 per day for each illegal.

Wow... REALLY?!?!? It sure doesn't sound like much of a punishment for criminal activities that they have committed. WOW... Sounds more like a vacation spot then anything else. I wish someone would pay for all that for me as a legal US Citizen. I'm also sure that the homeless population would love a place like that without having to worry about paying anything. They would love the royal treatment that they would be receiving that these criminals are getting. UNBELIEVALE.

They're treated very well at these places. They have to be because they have a hotline set up by Obama, for illegals only, for them to call in case they're not getting their "rights" or being picked on. However, they are also encouraged to sue for millions of dollars by our government, their government, and the immigration lawyers, so that's a lot of money even after it's divided up, and I guarantee you this is whats about to happen. It happens every time they decide to sue. Complaining is the first step, they'll sue for the "horrid living conditions," they'll win millions of dollars and never have to worry about living conditions again.

If they consider these "horrid" living conditions, it makes it hard to believe that they are claiming they are coming to the US for a better life since many of the freebies they get, our own citizens don't have.

I thought they all lived under newspapers with starving children and desperately came here to escape that. In that case, I would be so glad that my children had food, clothing and shelter that I would keep my mouth shut and hope I didn't have to go back to that situation of living under newspapers with starving children.
