A turn around for the governor who supported the Dream Act granting illegal immigrants in-state tuition just last year.

Quote:
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie says he would veto legislation establishing a state driver's license for residents who cannot prove they are in the United States legally.

Christie on Monday called the idea dangerous. His statement came after hundreds marched to the New Jersey statehouse to call on lawmakers to support the measure.

IMHO more and more politicians are trying to save their hides and; if that means going AGAINST illegal aliens, so be it. People are pissed and that crap in Europe is making people madder and madder.

Not a fan of Chris Christie though I do applaud this common sense decision to prevent illegal immigrants from driving. I have no problem with the democrats in general though it is almost always them who are in favor of more regulations on just about everything and a large government and then the Democratic Party practically grants illegal immigrants more rights then real Americans. It doesn't make sense and they do it to get the minority vote.

It should never have went this far. Unless they want to chip the illegals DL so "collection" will be easier later. They are here illegally so why do they even have the discussion in the first place?

Oh so NOW he decides not to reward people for breaking the law. I give all credit to Trump for this. Without Trump entering the race and bringing immigration to the fore, politicians would continue to give the illegals everything they want. The average American is unable to spend all day marching in front of the legislature, will not pull their kid out of school to protest, and does not want an arrest record. Maybe NJ can repeal their in-state tuition bill as well.

Agreed. I've also commented the Donald is a "game changer" in that the candidates NEED to drop the pro illegal alien attitude tho what REALLY did it was the murders in Paris last week. More and more of us want immigration all but stopped for a while.

It will only get worse in CA. Gavin Newsom, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Eric Garcetti all want to be the next governor and they are all open borders proponents. In fact I imagine the gubernatorial debate will be a game of one-upmanship in who can give illegals more bigger and better benefits faster.
