One year after U.S. and Mexican authorities were almost overwhelmed by an unprecedented wave of undocumented Central American attempting to reach the U.S. through Mexico, migration in the region appears to have taken a new and somewhat unusual turn.
In recent weeks, migrants from countries of origin rarely seen around here before – such as Syria, India and Cuba – have been taking the long route to the United States from South and Central America and through Mexico.

Migrants from all over world going to Central America, Mexico to join trek north to U.S. | Fox News Latino

I get it now: mostly "brown skin" people of ANY race are trying to sneak into the US along with the "usual suspects". I truly DON'T know what's wrong with the rest of LatAm if talking about Hispanics, the mostly Arab Middle East if talking about Syrians and, India's up and coming yet its people STILL try to get into the US.

Does this really surprise anyone? The idiots in charge of this country have basically rolled out the red carpet for essentially ANYONE that wants to come into this country illegally. Is friggin' disgusting.

It shouldn't surprise anyone; the alliance of grafters and thugs who took power in Washington seven years ago have never made a secret of their intentions, but a substantial portion of the backlash against it has come from people who want to turn the clock back to a past that wasn't as simple as our memories (and our media) portray it -- that ain't gonna happen.

But if the phenomenon of economically-motivated global migration is beyond our control, the crafting of a successful response isn't.

We don't have the resources to build a wall, or the skilled personnel to enforce Trump's grand schemes (Does anybody really think another TSA-type arrangement will work?) We might be able to take a few pointers from our friends in Canada, but we're getting a late start. And the only lessons to be learned from Obama's fan club in Europe involve not copying their mistakes.

We have to admit that we're still in the war that began back in 2001, or maybe back in 1978; the only real difference is that most of us have come to see the folly of more "boots on the ground". With the exception of quick and severe retribution against any rogue state which either seeks further development of nuclear and other WMDs, or legitimizes and deals with terrorists, most of the battle is going to be fought in urban, military and infrastructural locations all over the globe -- by small groups of professionals who know how to play rough when necessary.

And we have the ultimate weapon -- an efficient, well-dispersed and privately-managed economy that put the Soviet Union out of business while simultaneously ridding itself of a lot of unneeded regulatory baggage. And the biggest success stories within that economy, like our military and public safety forces, are both color- and gender-blind. The people I still work with every day don't carp about some supposed "one per cent"; most of them know that their success depends upon identifying, and usually diversifying their efforts, and using the resources between their ears. And as for the newcomers, nothing cures blind revolutionary zeal and resentment better than a full belly, a warm place to sleep, and a responsible role to play; any fantasy of some supposed reward in an afterlife tends to wear thin once the believer has something tangible to lose.

So you guys and gals over in the Big Playpen can pass the bong around and rant as much as you care to; life will go on, the parade will pass, and there will be losers (and a lot more winners -- just not in the manner sold to you by the dream merchants). And I wouldn't expect a life of "professional indolence" to remain as sustainable once the rest of the world is no longer lining up to clean up after you.

Funny that you should say that we don't have the resources to build the wall when it was already approved by congress several years ago. Funny also that we seem to be able to tolerate the billions a year that illegals cost us and the billions that they send out of our economy each year.

I predicted this years ago. The easiest way for any person in the mid east or Africa to get into the U.S. would be entry into any Central American country. A short trip through Mexico and a walk over our border. Even Cubans are doing it now.

Than get started. Because it will never happen when all we do is talk about it.
