El Salvador. Giving the US a heads up that we will see a repeat of 2014 so the US can get ready in advance to home them?

"............fleeing rampant violence, widespread poverty and lack of economic opportunity.

An initiative known as the Alliance for Prosperity in the Northern Triangle, which covers El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, aims to reduce Central American migration to the United States by fostering economic growth, improving public safety and bolstering institutions and human capital in those nations.
The White House has asked Congress for $1 billion to fund the initiative, though a key Senate panel has approved only $675 million so far."

We have our own violence, widespread poverty and lack of economic opportunity for Americans right in the US, but Obama wants $1 billion to fix the problems of other countries????

That's Obama's logic.

And if there is a repeat, it will suck hard.

$1 billion is A LOT of money in these countries. Shift that extra money away from porkulus spending in the defense budget. Lord knows that's a couple ten billion here and there that is most definitely not needed

So is a million.. Maybe a few less flights on Air Force 1, a few less parties for congress, a few less studies on obesity in lesbians etc. I agree we can cut fat out of the military budget, but let's face it both parties love adding pork to military spending.

There is only "one" qualifier for a refugee status and that's fleeing rampant violence where one's life is in jeopardy. Poverty and lack of economic opportunity does not qualify you. But as you said, there comes a time when we have to say no more regardless. We have enough taking care of the needs of our own citizens. We do not have unlimited taxes, ariable land space, resources and jobs to keep allowing foreigners to come here in unlimited numbers just because they have problems in their own countries.

I say shift the savings from waste unto our own needy citizens not foreigners.

We already are seeing a surge.

Right now it's more kids coming across by themselves.
social media was used to tell them there's no deportation and no detention..immediate release to the US.

Big Bend area has an increase of 500% over last year. Same with El Paso and Yuma..both over 500% increase.

Last year 5000 kids came. This year 10,000 kids came.
