SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The Dominican Republic has sent hundreds of soldiers to its border with Haiti to make it harder for migrants without legal residency to enter the country after returning home to spend the holidays.

A contingent of 900 troops was dispatched as part of what officials are calling “Operation Shield.” They were joining about 1,200 soldiers already assigned to patrol the area that divides the island of Hispaniola.

Oh well. The DR has the right who to let OR not to let on.

US could learn from this. Post Holidays is a good time to catch these criminals making another illegal border crossing.

When these countries do this, it makes us look even more pathetic. Pretty clever and simple plan. Where they had made their mistake is giving amnesty to that ones that had been there because the others come in droves hoping that amnesty will be granted to them in the future. There is a lesson here to be learned.

Our government should have learned from the 1986 amnesty but they didn't. Now we have at least quadruple the number of illegal aliens today. It never makes sense to reward law breaking. It set a precedence that our immigration laws and borders mean nothing. Add to that all the freebies they can get here and it's like leaving out an endless supply of food for stray cats. The problem just compounds itself. I pray that soon we will have a president and congress that ends this nonsense once and for all.
