What Illegal Immigration Costs Black People
Quote:
“And then, on the other hand,” Groff said, “there is this festering dilemma of competition for jobs, affordable housing and other resources -- this notion that ‘they’ are taking jobs from ‘us.’ That’s a troubling notion for black people, considering we’ve been her longer and fought so many years to attain higher levels of wealth, professional development and education. So, the interesting question is this: Why should we want the low-end, entry level, manual labor jobs typically secured by non-English speaking and mostly Latino immigrants?”

Trust me, illegals are costing everybody INCLUDING BLACKS!!!!!!

But black people were throwned into inner cities way before the immigration issue became as big as it is. There are studies that show if you have a black sounding name. There is a 50% chance you won't get a call back for a interview. That has nothing to do with immigration but racism and prejudice.

And; having a 'Hispanic' sounding name does not help either (till I had it legally changed in 1989)-------I know from personal experience never mind that I am Nordic White.

Wha'ts a black sounding name?
If it's Shaqueena Jones --- or Khaleel Washington -- yes -- it might influence an interview -- but so do names like Bambi Jones or Perci Smith. Blacks with names like Thomas, Mary and so on probably have better chances -- just like whites.

Agreed, but then again, aren't most of those names derived from Islamic names?
