I'd love to see those polls, and their methodology. The fact is, when given the choices of...
1.) Amnesty
2.) Attrition through enforcement
3.) Mass deportations

Option 2 usually gets about 60%, with 1 and 3 splitting the remainder.

So, how come the American people ALONE stopped that comprehensive shamesty bill last year? Does that not tell you something? It would have gone through without our overwhelming input. We shocked them, too - guess they thought like you do that we want "legalization". HA. I don't THINK so.

Spin? LOL!

You yourself state "the hardliners" have been rejected. It doesn't follow that rejecting the hardliners is equivalent to supporting illegal immigration. It's a non-sequitur. It's a faulty argument. But, alas, I guess it's all you have.

"Hey, look at this. Obama has won several states. This unequivocally proves that Americans hate white people."

"Clinton won in California. I've been saying all along that Californians hate men. This proves it."

"McCain has the lead. Just goes to show you that Americans do support the war in Iraq."

"With Huckabee's poor showing outside the South, it's obvious that Christians live only in the South."

Shall I go on?

The "American people" didn't stop anything, talk radio and their followers just bullied spineless politicians into not voting for cloture. The politicians thought these callers had strong voting power BUT they will now realize talk radio and their followers are all bark and no bite.

You keep holding on to that, blacknight, it obviously comforts you, but don't be surprised when the NEXT attempt at CIR gets shot down in flames just like the LAST few attempts. Hell, the DREAM Act got shot down, AgJobs got shot down, 2611 got shot down...

It does not matter much anyway.

With the economy tipping into a possibly severe recession; those folks let go will be the illegal immigrants first-------they have no recourse.

Especially here in Arizona.

Are you an illegal, blackknight? If not, are you an employer of illegals? If not either, are you simply crazy?

Open the floodgates as you would want and this country changes demographics in a short time and probably forever. It gives any of the top 3 (mcCain, obama or hillary) a totally beholden constituency.

Illegals no. Legal immigration yes.

Don't assume people don't want immigrants. Don't assume it was the media that created the stop of the amnesty bill. It took PEOPLE to get totally ticked off to stop the bill. We need to get back at it so in both conventions, it will radically change the platforms.
If not, everyone better be voting for every other candidate who is anti-immigration, anti-amnesty, anti-nanny state... etc.

People who gloat as you are doing should be ashamed.

That doesn't even make sense since there was no hardliner running. Ron Paul was no hardliner at all, not in the real sense anyway, and Romney is nothing but a joke who flipped-flopped so many times that no one even knows how he feels about illegals. Most voters are uneducated and quite ignorant about what each candidate really stands for and believes what the lying MSM tells them so they voted for what they believe is the lesser of two evils.

Watch and see in the future because it happens to be the Congress that we have to control when it comes to bills not being sent to the President.
