Did it clue in to anyone that refugee status means here legally? I worked at an immigration advocacy nonprofit which worked to gain citizenship for LEGAL immigrants- refugees, guest workers, green card holders. We taught English to illegal immigrants, sure- we didn't ask for any proof of citizenship- but there's no much we could do to gain citizenship for illegals.

That said... I was FOLLOWED HOME from work on a somewhat regular basis to the point where I started to have to take the bus so if a person in this minuteman-esque organization followed me, I could tell the bus driver to call the cops. I had to go as far as get a restraining order and some of the calls I took from these so called "prevailing WASPs" were something I'd expect out of Al-Queda, not the United States.

This isn't abnormal for immigrant organizations. Even a local abuse center that focused on women who were being abused and essentially held hostage for the immigration status (ie husband is citizen, brings wife over, then refuses to get her a green card and scares her into submission that she will be deported- either with a "mail order bride" or a wife from the home country) that I volunteered at once a week got horrible anti-immigration phone calls- and that wasn't even the issue!

My family came here illegally and thank G-d for that- they would have been killed like the in the Russian pogroms or Holocaust like the rest of the family that tried to do it legally. However, the official refugee status is in fact a legal status- though different from a green card. Most people choose to ignore this fact.

You did the right thing--------us anti illegal immigrant types do not need that riffraff either hurting innocent people or giving us a bad name.

As for your ancestors being 'illegal'; for you that would be a moot point in the eyes of the law-------it sounds to me you were born here in the USA.

As I have said in the past: the Anchor Baby loophole needs to be closed------with the proviso that those under age 18 Anchors be grandfathered in. The illegal parents, etc, would still need to leave though or else face the wrath of the courts.

[quote=Prince of Lombards;2750790]American soldiers who fought and died for this country did so it could be given away to people from other countries, and that taxpayers be required to pay for their welfare.” [You are correct sir]

The issue I have with this particular statement is simple..it is false. At this time there are "Illegals" fighting for our country and furthermore they have been promised amnesty once they finish their term.
I am not Pro-Illegal but it angers me how when society mentions "Illegals" it is mainly geared towards Mexicans. Spare me the long winded "They are the majority" I have heard this regurgitated more times than I care to count.
The fact is there are Illegal immigrants coming into the United States from all over the worl mostly on work visas. I cannot tell you how many times I have called a particular business and reached a call center that mostly hires Indians and Asians that also work for pennies on the dollar. With this said it would be nice to include all ethnic groups where illegal immigration is concerned after all I do not think that the majority of individuals here on work visas dutifully return after their cards expire.
Call it what you may these groups are doing a job and by no means do they haveto deal with harrassment or open threats of violence, this is illegal is it not?

That's because the illegals from Central America are more numerous by far. At the same time, if they were from China or Ireland or Jamaica or Canada, my response would be precisely the same.

LOL!

Supply-side economics...corporatism...dividing the masses...yep...illegal immigration is certainly a symptom of emerging one-world fascism.

A few examples of hate;

"Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You are old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats. You old white people. It is your duty to die. Through love of having children, we are going to take over." -- Augustin Cebada, Brown Berets

"They're afraid we're going to take over the governmental institutions and other institutions. They're right. We will take them over. We are here to stay." -- Richard Alatorre, Los Angeles City Councilman

"We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population . . . I love it. They are ****ting in their pants with fear. I love it!" -- Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas

"Remember 187--proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens--was the last gasp of white America in California." -- Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party

"We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country . . . I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, 'I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back.'" -- Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor

"California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave." -- Mario Obledo, California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations and California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown, also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton

"We are practicing 'La Reconquista' in California." -- Jose Pescador Osuna, Mexican Consul General

"We need to avoid a white backlash by using codes understood by Latinos." -- Professor Fernando Guerra, Loyola Marymount University

"The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot." -- Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico

Are these just the words of a few extremists? Consider that we could fill up many pages with such quotes. Also, consider that these are mainstream Mexican leaders. THE U.S. VS MEXICO

On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, "This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession."
